Miro Sorvino celebrated New Years Eve with kids

Nikki_new_year The New York Post reports that Mira Sorvino brought her kids, Mattea Angel Backus, 2, and Johnny Backus, 7 months old, to her New Year Eve’s party at New York hotspot, Nikki Beach Midtown.  (Maybe she couldn’t find a sitter?)  The family celebrated from 11 pm – 1:30 am.  The Post‘s source says that Mira put headphones on the kids, "to protect them from the noise." Apparently, Mattea didn’t want to leave the shindig- she threw a tantrum because she didn’t want the fun to end!

Did you spend New Year’s Eve with your kids?

I certainly did spend New Years with my hubby and my son. My daughter spent it with her boyfriend. I had really wanted her to be home, but she is almost 18 so you know how it is. I spend every year with my family. We never go out anymore. Too crowded, too dangerous to be driving. Much nicer at home. We grill nice big steaks and have lobster tail and a nice dessert together. Better than any party!

I guess I’m not a fun mom. NO WAY NO HOW would by kids be at a night club from 11-1am with or without headphones. Sorry to say, but I honestly thought she was a better mom than that? Who’s with me?

I think it’s fine. I’m sure the kids weren’t in the middle of the dance floor with gyrating adults all around them. They probably had a small area where they were sitting and Mattea could dance there.

Yep, we were at home with the kids too. We had friends over and they brought their kids, too. 8 little ones under 8 and they all made it to midnight. The front yard is still covered in silly string.

I’m with you Morgan…

My daughter is almost 3 and she went to bed at 7:30. There is NO WAY she would be up until midnight!! When I was watching the news coverage of the Rose Parade (which my husband was working at) I was appalled by all the young children who were spending the night on the street.

I say get a babysitter if you want to go out! And if you can’t, stay home with your children!!

Replace Mira with Britney and this story would be making headlines on the gossip blogs, entertainment TV shows an even the regular news. People would be ALL OVER it. Children don’t belong in a club/lounge any night of the year.

We have two boys: ages 4 1/2 and 1 1/2, and we went to dinner with some friends with boys ages 4 and 1, and we got home from dinner about 7:30, bathed the kids, then our friends came back over, and all the kids went to bed by 8:30, and then it was just us grown-ups until 1am, when they woke theirs and walked four doors down back to home. It was nice not to keep the kids up, but for us to still have plans with grown-ups was such a treat!

I think there is really nothing wrong with taking your kids to a New Years Eve party. And apparently the kids AND the parents had fun there, so who are we to judge? The little ones probably to a long nap. And neither Mira nor her husband are known as wild party animals. They probably sat at a table, danced a little, ate something, sipped a glass of wine and that was it. What’s wrong with that?
