Edward Furlong and son Ethan

01/03/2007 at 10:38 AM ET

Edward_kiss Terminator 2‘s Edward Furlong, 29, and his wife, actress Rachael Bella, 22, welcomed their first child, Ethan Page, on September 21, 2006.  Edward talked to People magazine about being a father.

He says he has really mellowed ("Rachel’s turned me into a mushball") and is vice-free with the exception of a 2-3 pack a day cigarette habit (though he says he’s trying to quit by his 30th for his son).  He says, "It’s definitely trippy.  I did a lot of stuff when I was a kid, and I’ve never seen anything as trippy as my own kid looking at me."

Edward said, "It’s so weird- I sort of feel like a teenager with a baby. The other day I got him to calm down by myself.  It felt great. Awesome.  It made me feel a little grown up."

Edward is extremely happy with his domesticated life.  "The fact is that I’m holding him in my arms and I’m happy.  I’ve still got a roof over my head and I have a beautiful wife, a beautiful son, two cars.  I think I appreciate what I have even more because I almost lost everything."

its so great to see Edward settled and happy. I have always love him as an actor. Sounds like he is really taken with his little boy! Its sweet! I hope he can quit that heavy cigarette habit soon too. 2-3 packs a day??? Not good! Lots of good wishes!

It’s great to hear that he’s so excited about being a daddy. There’s nothing like being responsible for another life to make you feel “grown up”!

It’s great to see these young men settling down and having a family!!! Hope he can kick his habit–2-3 packs. Wow…

The baby is very cute. Wow, 2-3 packs a day? That’s like a cigarette every 15 minutes for all of your waking hours! I can’t imagine how someone with a newborn has time for that. I am 11 weeks pregnant and my husband quit smoking on Jan 1st. (So far, so good.) He did not smoke that much, probably around 10 per day, but we are going to be needing to save every penny for when I am off on maternity leave, and it’s too expensive of a habit to keep! Not to mention every other reason why someone would quit…..Good for Eddie for trying to quit for his son. He will have many more years to enjoy with him because of it :)

Parenthood can really inspire change. I was a smoker for 25 years before I quit when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. It was very hard to do, but worth it. I have a wonderful healthy two-year-old to show for it!

Edward is my favorite actor of all time. He is my inspration to be a actress and to be famous. i may be only 14…but hes amazing. Im glad that he has a son, and that he’s gonna quit smoking. He is the best actor alive. And im really happy for him.Hope all gos well with him.

I’m SO glad he straightened himself out. He was on the road to an early grave for a while there. Heroin is a tough habit to break – and the fact that he did it means he can probably do anything (like quit smoking).

I used to smoke for years until I read an article saying it reduced your fertility by 25%. I wasn’t even married at the time, but it’s one of the main reasons I quit – I would have hated to find out I couldn’t have kids because of any stupid habit I had.

I also quit smoking when I was PG! I then started back up when she was about 4 mos. old because I had to quit “for me” I think. I quit again when she was about 8 mos. and my only trigger is drinking alcohol now… but it’s no longer an issue for me. It’s smelly, expensive and unhealthy!

Anyway, I just saw Rachael Bella on SVU like 3 days ago so I thought I recognized the girl in the pic!

I’m really happy for Rachel and Eddie. I met them both when the two actually first met and hit it off on the set of the Indie movie Jimmy and Judy. Its a great movie and you can really see the chemistry these two have on screen. Congratulations!!

Lindsay on

Wow-it’s about time he got on track. For awhile there, I thought Edward was going to be another Hollywood drug statistic. He just needs to kick the cigarettes. I’m glad he found Rachael-she and their son may very well be twhat saved his life.

Congrats Eddie!! Your son is adorable! He looks like his daddy! I wish you the best of luck with everything in your life and also kickin your smoking habit (I’m tryin to do the same :)). I do have to say that I’d give anything in the world to meet you and I think you’re the best actor out there. It would be awesome just to know you and meet you. (Good luck on that one, I know ;))Anyway, the best of luck and happiness. All my love to you and your family! May you always be happy!

Love,
Your biggest fan,
Keisha Bickel :)

I was a pack and a half a day smoker and quit smoking in one 30-minute treatment with laser therapy. I went to a company called Freedom Laser Therapy that provides a pain free low-level laser procedure which helps alleviate nicotine withdrawal symptoms. The staff at Freedom Laser Therapy is dedicated and passionate about helping smokers end their nicotine addiction.

I would really recommend laser therapy to help you quit smoking. Go to their locations page to find a Freedom Laser Therapy clinic or a local quit smoking laser therapy I was a pack and a half a day smoker and quit smoking in one 30-minute treatment with laser therapy. I hope he was not injecting heroin and just smoking it. However you have to remember that being straight all the time is extremly boring and that in it self can drive people to suicide
