Sylvester Stallone challenged by raising his daughters

12/28/2006 at 07:59 PM ET

Rocky actor Sylvester Stallone, 60, recently chatted about the challenges of raising his three daughters with wife Jennifer Flavin – Sophia Rose, 10, Sistine Rose, 8 1/2, and Scarlet Rose, 4 1/2.

Click the extended post to see what he said – and why his three daughters all have the same middle name.

He explains why all his girls have the same middle name, saying, "All the middle names are Rose so they can’t battle – like one would be called Lilac and one would be Heather, so it’s all Sophia Rose, Sistine Rose and Scarlett Rose. Rose is a great name, you can’t knock it. You can’t get better than rose – it’s neutral."

After raising two older sons from his first marriage (Sage, 30, and Seargeoh – "Seth", 27), Sly says the emotions of girls are a whole different ballgame. "Girls are a lot of work. Boys, you just put a T-shirt on them and throw them out in a hail storm and say, ‘It’s OK, it’s good for you. Go chew on that tree. Fight that coyote. With the girls it’s like, ‘Am I gaining weight?’ I’m like – you’re five years old!’ It’s crazy!"

Sly’s also worried about his daughters as they grow and become attractive to boys. He says, "I’m so worried about the guys coming up to them that I would love them to be able to smack a guy right off a bar stool. I would feel very confident in them going out at night if they could take all the guys in the neighborhood."

I have always loved Sly. He sounds like a very concerned and caring dad! I bet those 3 little girls have really softened him up alot! They are gorgeous!

How intimidated would you be if you were a guy dating one of his daughters (I mean like 10 years from now of course) and you had to go meet Dad aka Rocky! lol

This is so strange… I am SO not joking: I was actually thinking months ago that if I ever had daughters (which is VERY unlikely since I have always void not too – love kids, but they’re not for me though! LMAO) they would all have Rose as a middle name! =X Very weird, but it’s awesome to see someone who has actually done that! And SYLVESTER STALLONE of all people! LMAO

So. Weird.

I love that the middle names are the same. It’s a nice tradition. Maybe his girls will continue that on when they have children.

Those girls are beautiful.
Wow, he is 60!? time flies!!!!!

Heather,in 10 years time, he will be an old man so he won’t be too intimidating. His girls looks so smart and feminine in their outfits. The eldest daughter definitely resembles her dad.

His 5 year old comments on weight gain? She has to be hearing that from someone. Her mom perhaps? Not good.

try to find pics of his sons!

Its very sad that he chooses NOT to campaign for Autism as his oldest child Seargeoh is afflicted. Its almost as if he had no first child and never talks about him…

For this reason I think hes a big jerk

The little girl got the weight thing from her mom. I remember her mom coming into the maternity store I worked at lets just say she is not a nice person at all. Very rude. I feel sorry for those girls.

For some reason, I still think Sly will be intimidating at 70.

He seems like such a great father, even though I don’t hear much about his older sons.

I don’t think it’s fair to immediately contribute comments about weight to their mom. Little girls hear that everywhere these days, even on the playground. Yes, even at 5.

And as for her being “rude” in a store…I’ve found that tends to be heavily reading and perception. Famous people have bad days too; if I recall correctly, their eldest daughter had some very serious health problems as a baby and I’m sure the two of them weren’t sunshine and light all the time then. I don’t think we can really judge her parenting or her attitudes toward weight from one rude day in a store. People.

Chiara, were you there? Did you hear what I and the other women heard? I am one who tries to give people the benefit of the doubt that is why I did not go into detail of the lovely day we all had, when she visited with her three girls and her girlfriend. Also eventhough she was having a hard time with her oldest does not give she or any other person the right to treat others with little respect.
Let me tell you I am 5’7 and I weighed 51 kilos. ( imagine the comments I heard from people)when I and the other women were blessed with her kindness. Stop and think before you start acting like Mother Teresa.

I am not denying that she was rude to you. I’m simply questioning the logic of rude woman = poor parent, which was exactly what you said in your first post. Seems pretty much like a false-cause fallacy to me.

preesi, I thought that Sly DID campaign for autism and thought I read once he called out john travolta for NOT campaigning as it’s been said his son Jett suffers from autism also. (from what i’ve heard, Jett isn’t even medically treated for autism due to scientology beliefs, but what do I know for sure about any of it?)

preesi on

Nah.

Sly says nothing about Autism. And never contributes to anything to do with Autism.
Hes never on any literature or with anyone else whose h\kids have autism…

Hes a jerk to me.
