Cabana Life: Sun protective, stylish clothing
The term “sunprotective clothing” has always seemed a little redundant to me, so I was surprisedto find to that a typical t-shirt is only the equivalent of SPF 5. Sure we can cover our kids in floppy hats andlong-sleeved tees, but I think we can all agree that if there is something moreprotective out there then that’s what we want on our kids.
Cabana Life is aline of sylish, sun-protective clothing for children. Founded by Melissa Marks Papock – a young andsavvy New York fashionista (and now a mom) who was diagnosed with the deadliest form of skincancer, melanoma, at only 26 – the line of comfortable, 100% cotton styles providesa UV protection of 50+. Ranging from sporty graphic tees to playful ruffleskirts, the line epitomizes relaxed, beach club-chic playwear, perfectly suitedfor active boys and girls. I loved the terry hoodie. It’s nice to know that there are clothes outthere that are not only cute but also protective. My neighbor who has a 4-year-old loves the SignatureBeach Shirt which has a UV-reactive, color changing screen print (in this case,a crab) when exposed to the sun. Her little boy thinks it’s super cool that thecrab changes color and she loves it because it tells her exactly when he’s hadtoo much sun.
