Tobey Maguire and fiancee Jen Meyer welcome a Spidey baby

Update #3: Tobey was on Jay Leno tonight (12/15/06) and said her name is actually Ruby Sweetheart Maguire. The ‘Sweetheart’ is in honor of Jen Meyer’s grandmother, who always called her sweetheart and recently passed away.

However, our source emailed us again to say that the birth announcement she received said, "Ruby Jane" – no mention of Sweetheart – perhaps it’s a nickname?

Update #2: Ruby Jane Maguire is the full name, according to a source who has seen the baby announcements the couple sent out. She weighed in at 6 lbs, 13 oz and is 20 inches long.

Update: Us Weekly reports that the baby’s name is Ruby. Apparently, the name was chosen because, "They treasure her like a jewel," says a family friend.

Originally posted November 11th: Tobey Maguire and fiancée jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer welcomed their baby daughter Thursday night early Friday, November 10th at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. A name has not been released and we hear that they won’t be announcing it for privacy reasons.

They have been a couple since 2003 and became engaged this April.  In June, Jen told USA Today, "I’m walking on air. I’m getting married, starting a family and have an amazing company."

Jen is the daughter of NBC Universal president/CEO Ron Meyer.

I received an email from a friend this morning who knows Jen Meyer closely. She said that the baby girl’s name is Scarlett Jane Maguire. This is a fairly credible source, however I was also told that Jen and Toby were still finalizing their decision, and probably WILL NOT be releasing the baby’s name, in order to ensure her privacy. So for this reason, I just wanted to let you ladies know that the new baby’s name is most likely Scarlett Jane Maguire. =)

Yes, we were also told Scarlet Jane as the name last week but decided not to publish it as we heard Tobey and Jen wanted to keep the name private. Scarlet and Ruby essentially both mean ‘red’ though, so maybe they were considering both and ultimately chose Ruby. Doesn’t sound like we’ll be getting a confirmation from Tobey or Jen though, unfortunately.
