CBB Exclusive: Gilbert Gottfried and fiancee expecting a daughter

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried, 51, and his fiancee Dara Kravitz, 36, are expecting their first child, a daughter.  Dara is 14 weeks along and due on June 3rd, 2007.

The couple has been together for 10 years and got engaged recently.

You have heard Gilbert most recently as the voice of the AFLAC duck!

I know many won’t be shocked but I am..Wow, I’m intrigued. I don’t know what’s funnier that the man that I grew up with who often screams will have a baby that’ll do the same..Hmm Karma..lol

I’m not sure if anyone else found this odd. But it is impossible to know the sex of your baby at 14 weeks along. I have a 15 month old daughter and am due with my second one on June 2nd, and it’s not possible to know the sex unless she has had an aminocentesis.

Since his fiance is 36, I wouldn’t be surprised if she had chorionic villus sampling to screen for chromosomal abnormalities. CVS is usually performed between 11 and 12 weeks, and results are available within 7 to 10 days; preliminary results can be available as soon as two days later. Which means that at 14 weeks, they could certainly know the sex.

That said, if public interest is a concern, they may also be citing an incorrect due date to reduce paparazzi intrusion.
