Kate Beckinsale's desire for a baby

Actress Kate Beckinsale, 33, wishes to have another baby, but not just yet. "I want another child but I’m not ready to stop my career and look after a baby for a year. I need to work a few more years before I get to that point, but I could always change my mind." Beckinsale, who is married to director Len Wiseman, 33, has daughter Lily, 7, with actor Michael Sheen, 37.

She has an adorable daughter. By the way, there are some cute pictures of the tom cruise family in Hello Magazine.

“need to work a few more years before I get to that point, but I could always change my mind.”

Hmmm. I wish them all the best,
but waiting a few years to have
another when you’re already 33
can mean a difficult struggle to
get pregnant, unless of
course they’re considering adoption.

Is there a possibility that they’ve been trying to conceive for awhile, not having any success, and she’s deflected the question this way?

I’ve noticed a lot of celebrities in their mid-to-late 30′s have been saying that they’re just “waiting for the right time” to have a baby.

I mean, infertility and secondary infertility aren’t uncommon, but yet interviewers keep asking the “when are you going to have a baby /another baby?” question… what else are they going to say??

There is also the possibility that they’ve chosen to have one child. For whatever reason, having an only child (whether by choice or cirumstances) seems to be unacceptable to a large portion of society.

Or maybe she just wants to wait a few years. Nothing wrong with that.

Kate has admitted in the past she has been hospitalized for eating disorders, so perhaps she has a difficult time wrapping her mind around being pregnant and gaining weight again? Or perhaps she damaged her fertility through anorexia and bulemia?

I agree with Christina that she may be having problems and may not feel like discussing them. Could be another JLo-type situation.

Dad Said It

"Harper was a name that we've loved for a long time for a couple of reasons. Harper is an old English name, and Victoria's favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird."
