Hugh Jackman on daughter Ava's flushing problem

UntitledActor Hugh Jackman says his 15 month old daughter Ava has to be watched especially closely now – because she’s made friends with the toilet bowl!  "I have a 15-month-old daughter who’s really in the habit at the moment of flushing everything down the toilet! We’ve lost a cell phone and I’ve retrieved two pairs of shoes, pencils and food!"

Did your children throw anything interesting in there themselves?

I have twin sons that will be 7 in Dec. When they were a little over a year old they too discovered the toliet. Since I also had a 4 year old I couldn’t put the clamp on the toilet lid because my daughter couldn’t get it off in time to not have an accident. So many things got flushed! My husband’s wallet (which ruined all of his credit cards & ID), documents we needed for work, and celery. For some reason both boys LOVED flushing celery!

My son, at a year old, flushed a remote to the TV and a set of keys down the toilet and stopped it up. We had to call the plumber! LOL!

My kids never did it but my neice, who is half Chinese and learning to speak the language alongside English, took everything and put it in the trash. She would say “doo-dow” (sp?), which is Chinese for throw away. She took my nephew’s Game Boy and “doo-dow.” He was not happy when it came back out with food all over it!!!

I have a child who used to climb in the toilet. I would find her just sitting in there as if it was a normal place to sit.

Oh my gosh, that is too funny… And Ava is so adorable! That’s the first good quality picture I’ve seen of her… she is so cute. ^_^

My daughter Phoebe (she’ll be 3 in April) LOVES to put things in the toilet. Stuffed animals – or pretty much anything else she can find. Grandpa lost his cell phone one day when he didn’t believe us…. But my personal favorite, was the first time she discovered ‘the toilet’. She went in the bathroom, came out, eyed some DVDs on the rack, and within a few hours, I discover her “WASHING” the DVDs in the toilet bowl ‘old washboard style’. I have no idea why they needed to be washed, or how on Earth she knew how to do it washboard style. Needless to say, we keep our bathroom door locked at all times now.

My 3 year old son accidentally dropped his beloved “Mimi” (stuffed lamb) in the toilet while standing up to urinate. Since the toilet was flushing at the time, good ole’ Mom (me) had to stick her bare hand in a very unclean toilet to rescue the precious Mimi!

Lol. One time when i was little i flushed my hot chocolate, followed by a whole gallon of milk, and a whole gallon of orange juice down the toliet. My mom was not happy to say the least. But we went grocery shopping later anyway.

I don’t have kids, but I have a little cousin who, when she started to walk, also became fascinated with the toilet. She never threw anything in there, but she loved the fact that it had water in it. I was sitting at the computer one day and all of a sudden I heard a splashing sound in the bathroom. I ran in and found her elbow-deep in toilet bowl water. I quickly carried her out, and she just thought it was the funniest thing ever, because everyone was getting up in arms over something she enjoyed doing. And I guess it was kind of funny. But needless to say her mother made it a point to keep all bathroom doors completely shut from that day on.

when my cousine was about 2 he tried to flush our new kitten down the toilet! all we could hear was a loud kitten-scream followed by the toilet flushing and then a tiny and drenched kitten flew out of the bathroom and under the sofa. we all rushed in to see what had happen and my cousine was standing there and said “she didn’t want to go down”. Hilarious but poor Katy (the kitten). Anyway she lived to be 10 :)

my son at 2 discovered the trick of placing the very end square on the surface of the water and flushing, watching the entire role spine down with the water.

when i was 3 I would flush towels down the toilet, good thing my dad was a plumber.

Hi! My funny toilet story is that when I came back from the hospital, after having my 3rd son, my oldest, then 34 mos. old, stripped my 2nd son ( that was 14 mos. old) naked, put him in the toilet and tried flushing him away – lol. I guess he thought that ” momma brought a new one home, then I better get rid of this one so I get some attention”. I do have a picture of him doing it, which I threaten to show on his wedding day if he gets out of line.
