Madonna reveals she offered to help David's father raise him himself
In the interview that will aired this morning and will run tonight on the Today show and Dateline NBC, Madonna reveals to Meredith Vieira that she offered to financially support her adopted son David’s biological father Yohane Banda so he could raise David himself but that Yohane turned her down.
She told Meredith, "When I met (Yohane), I said I would be happy to … to bring(David) back to your village and help you financially raise him. And he said no … I think hetruly felt in his heart of hearts that – and who knows if he wastelling me the truth – that he would have a better life with me. So,when he said no, that was my sign that it was my responsibility to lookafter him."
She says that if she had to do it all over again, she would have done the same thing. She said, "I mean, if youwould have asked me a week ago when I was in…the depths of mydepression, and just feeling so sad about the state of the world andhow negative everybody was, I probably would have said no. But if youask me today, I would say yes."
