I personally don’t find her wanting to adopt from around the world strange at all – I find it very beautiful. =)

If anyone has a problem with adopting children in their country, be it sweden or wherever, they should take this up with their countries policies. This particular couple is not standing in the way of anyone else adopting.

Angie saying she would love to adopt several children who need families from different countries, is not the same as “thinking of them as collectibles” This is unfair. Thank God not all countries are as judgemental about someone’s “colorful” past.

leis – I have my impression and you all have yours. None of us knows what’s the correct one, really. I do not know Brad and Angie so I base my opinion on Angies old saying that she wants her UN of kids. You all probably don’t know them either and you base your opinions on whatever makes you think. Probably the fact that they seem to be great parents which I agree to.

I just find it odd and very unfair that rich people are allowed to adopt children whenever they feel like it and the process is almost non existant sometimes. Here in Sweden, a woman with, say, Angies colorful past would probably have trouble adopting.

Some of you seriously need to put your guard down and quit being so defensive. If you read Hea’s posts, she wasn’t trying to be insulting. She simply stated her opinion and said, “I don’t mean to offend anyone, but this is what I think.” She doesn’t deserve to have people be obnoxious to her because of her opinion.

And Hea, for what it’s worth, I agree with you. Adoption is a wonderful thing, but sometimes I question their motives for wanting to adopt every orphaned child in sight. It’s suspicious to me, at best.

Please, read my post again. I said I think THEY seem to think of kids as collectables, not that *I* think that kids are collectables. *Big* difference!

Wow! that is a bit harsh. I dont agree that they “think” this way at all. I’ve seen no evidence of this. I have seen a lot of evidence of their love and devotion for their children, adopted and biological, as well as concern for those they have visited in orphanages.
It saddens me that people are so quick to criticize others who have opened their hearts and homes to children who most likely wouldnt be alive today if they hadnt.

It still seems rude and presumptious to say that this couple “seems to think of kids as collectibles”. I think that is very unfair.
