Melissa and Tammy Etheridge welcome twins!

It’s a boy and a girl for singer Melissa Etheridge and her wife Tammy

According to Melissa’s website, Tammy gave birth to their son Miller Steven and their daughter Johnnie Rose on Tuesday, October 17th.  Tammy and the twins are reported to be doing excellent. Tammy wrote a poem, which she posted on her blog. It reads:

Johnnie Rose and Miller Steven
are
home

healthy
perfect
beautiful
and
all that is joy.

Peace.

The couple also released the following statement:

"The creation of life brings about immeasurable love, and pours hope into the future… The joy will help carry us through our upcoming sleepless nights."

Melissa and Tammy have been together for over five years and held a commitment ceremony in September 2003.  Melissa has two children (Bailey, 9, and Beckett, 7) from a previous relationship with Julie Cypher.  The twins were conceived using an anonymous donor.

Johnnie?

If you give a girl a boy’s name, don’t be surprised, hurt or offended when – guess what – people assume said child is A BOY!

Tammy Lynn also wrote a bit about it on her blog: http://hollywoodfarmgirl.blogspot.com/

I am so excited. I love them! Thanks for posting.

As in the Steve Miller band?

Johnnie for a girl actually isn’t all that unheard of in the South, neither is Willie and the like. C’est la vie.

I’m glad the twins are here safely! Congrats to Melissa & Tammy, and also to Bailey and Beckett!

Congratulations to Melissa and Tammy!

Interesting how the girls have unisex names (Johnnie used as a girl’s name was more common from 1900-1960 and tapered off in following decades) and the boys have last names for first names. I like all of the names though…although Rose seems to be a common middle name of late.

Congrats to the new parents! I’ve been a big fan of Melissa’s for a while now, and when she performed at the Grammys with her beautiful bald head I became an even bigger fan of hers. Babies are always a blessing, and I wish Melissa and Tammy nothing but the best of everything!

“The twins were conceived using an anonymous donor.” They should have used Crosbie again – then the kids would also have been half biological siblings!

I am really happy for the whole family. Melissa is looking fantastic. Hopefully her cancer ordeal is behind her now.

I was wondering when their twins would finally arrive! Eee, a boy and girl. So sweet.

Congradulations to them!

Oh! They are soooo lucky!!!! If I had twins I wanted them to be a girl and a boy! I bet they are very different from each other! I’ve been helping to take care of twins (boy and girl, Sarah and Guilherme(William in Portuguese)) and they don’t have anything similar! I wish these girls have many joys as we have here!!!!
All the best!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to Tammy, Melissa, Bailey and Beckett.

Technically, Melissa didn’t create the life of Johnny and Miller. She’s just a lesbian who happened to hold her girlfriend’s hand as the babies were born. Wonder if these two will be the result of a broken home like ‘Melissa’s’ other children

My wife and I are very excited about the arrival of the babies. They couldn’t have asked for two better people in the world to be their parents. Congrats to Melissa, Tammy, Bailey and Beckett

I have a name that I never thought of us a man’s name, but when I went to college, a lot of the people on campus expected to see a muslim/arabian man than a white female. (i was named after ali mcgraw so that’s why i never thought it was a male’s name).
I understand that the first instinct on Johnnie would be a male but a lot of names can be used either way.

When I saw the names, I thought Johnnie (or is it Johnny) Lee Miller, he’s an actor and Angelina Jolie’s first husband.

Yes in the south we have names that can go either way and my dad was accidently stuck with the spelling of a girls name when it was common to name females Jimmie.
