Dern-Harper family out and about

Singer-songwriter Ben Harper and his actress wife Laura Dern took part of their brood out and about last week. Their son Ellery Walker, 5, happily held hands with dad while Ben’s daughter Harris (from his first marriage) held on tightly to stepmom Laura’s back pocket!

Both kids wear Crocs – Harris’ are turquoise ($25) while Ellery wears sea blue ($25).

Cute pics! If Ellery’s 5, how old is Ben’s older daughter Harris?

Also, I don’t mean to offend anyone but I’m just curious, is Ben Harper bi-racial? I always thought he was mostly African American, and his older daughter Harris looks it too, however Ellery takes more after Laura in these pics…so it just made me wonder.

Marie, they have a two year old daughter, Jaya.

Autumn, yes Ben is biracial. His father is black and his mom is white. I believe his first was African American as well.

They are a beautiful kids & I love their shoes which are all the rage now.

And I the only one who thinks its a bit sad to have children from different relationships so close in age? I’ve always found that to be such a sad situation for the kids to be in.
