Maggie Gyllenhaal doesn't want child actors

Maggie Gyllenhaal told OK! Magazine that she doesn’t want her baby to act.  She said, "I don’t think children should be working.  It doesn’t make sense to me.  When they grow up, my children can do whatever they want.  Not as children."

Maggie is currently starring in Sherrybaby, where she plays a mother returning home after serving three years in prison, and re-establishing her relationship with her young daughter.  I wonder who she thinks should play the roles of children in movies if she thinks children shouldn’t be working!

Her first child with fiance Peter Sarsgaard is due in mid-October.

I thought the same thing. So who will play children if they shouldn’t act? Small adults?

Does she maybe mean she just doesn’t want HER children to act, not all children in general? Her comment kind of makes sense.. but it seems like perhaps something was left out that she said that completed the quote..

She said she didn’t want her child to work as an actor. I’m sure she understands that other people may feel differently and their children can play those roles. I feel the same way.
