Healthy baby boy for Brit model Nell McAndrew

by British correspondent Joanna:

1440777British model and fitness fanatic Nell McAndrew has given birth to a healthy son, after tragically having to terminate a previous pregnancy due to medical complications. The bouncing baby boy, born in the early hours of August 24th, has been named Devon and weighed in at 7lb 8oz. The birth was completely natural and without pain relief.

Nell and her husband Paul Hardcastle are understandably ecstatic and have also revealed that the name Devon was just one they loved, rather than being a reference to any geographical conception point as in the case of David & Victoria Beckham’s eldest son Brooklyn! Devon is also a county in south-west England.

Congratulations to them. I was sad for them when they lost their last child. I live in England and know a few little boys named Devon and my husband always says ‘That’s the name of a place.’ but I never think of it that way.

Brooklyn was conceived in Denmark. It’s an urban myth originated from those British tabs’ lazy logic because Victoria found out she was pregnant when she was in New York, though not specifically Brooklyn, and she was still there when the news broke.

Sorry, it’s just one of my biggest pet-peeve :D

Congrats to Nell and Paul. I am so glad that she has had a healthy baby boy, love the name too.

Enjoy motherhood Nell, you truly deserve it.

I admit it – I cried when I read this news. Having had my own experiences with losing unborn children, I can’t help but be ecstatic for Nell and Paul. Congratulations to the entire family!

Congratulations to Nell & family.

I lost my own baby around the same time Nell had to terminate hers so I can imagine what sort of pain she’s been through and I’m really glad everything went well for her in this pregnancy, and the baby is healthy.

And it’s great to finally hear about a celebrity having had a natural birth, not a C-section like just about every other celeb mom these days!

Yes i agree with you Virginia, i live in England also and love the name Devon and don’t think of the county when i hear it. I admit when i met a guy called Kent the first thing i thought of was the place ‘Kent’ but i’m used to that as well now! i think ‘place’ names for children are unusual and unique – i like them!

Sorry to be an editorial stickler, but I would say she gave birth without “pain medication” NOT “pain relief.” There could have been any number of ways she received pain relief during a natural birth (back pressure, tub, meditation, positioning, etc.)

Thanks!
