Minor League Baseball team to hold Britney Spears Baby Safety Night

The minor league baseball team the Newark Bears are set to host a Britney Spears Baby Safety Night in an effort to spread the message of keeping babies safe in vehicles.  The event’s name pokes fun at the popular celebrity who has drawn harsh criticism for driving with son Sean Preston in her lap and in a forwards facing car seat.  All fans in attendance will receive information on car seats and safety and have the chance to win a free car seat from the American Automobile Association.  You can read more on the event here.

I think while I am all for promoting child safety that this is way over the top. Give the girl a break already.

HYSTERICAL!! I think that’s great!!

yeah I read about this in the paper the other day!

i think the meaning behind it is great, but i also think it is kind of hurtful to her. she made the mistakes, hopefully has learned from them and is moving on. i wish the whole world would move on too!

I can understand the meaning behind it. Britney draws attention so I think they mean to use the attention in a positive way. I have neighbors who for years drove around with first their son and then their daughter with them in the front seat with no seat belts on. Some people are just uneducated about this important issue. And while it is something I am sure Britney would rather forget, why not use it to educate as many people as possible? If Britney were asked about it, I am sure she would even agree that if helps others-why not? If fame is good for something it should be to better the world.

I am not a BS fan, nor do I even really like her, but I think it is mean-spirited. It’s always a good thing to stress child safety, but not like this.

peacepoet, those were the exact words i was looking for! “Mean-Spirited”. Thanks!

I don’t think I will boo-hoo too hard for celebs. They can handle the heat. If they can’t they are in the wrong business.I am pretty sure all stars deal with worse things/people than this. And speaking specifically about Britney, I don’t think she felt too bad for Shar Jackson or Justin Timberlake and their feelings. If the girl can dish it out, she should be able to take it.

Geez, take a chill pill. Everyone has a right to voice their opinion. You sound mad that someone made a good point about Brit. She was so dumbfounded when asked about the Shar Jackson situation in the TV interview with Matt Lauer(sp?) that she excused her behavior by saying she shouldn’t be judged harshly because Julia Roberts did it too (an only half right comment). Those were Brit’s own words about her behavior, not a guess.

To Tink1217: I guess calling Shar a B**ch isn’t mean-spirited? I guess you personally know her? Hmmm.

If it brings more attention to carseat safety then I’m all for it. If Brit herself couldn’t do something positive regarding the situation at least her name will bring more people in to be educated.
