German professional cyclist Grischa Niermann has become a dad for the second time on Wednesday, July 12th. His wife Sandra gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Luca. He weighed 3450 g (7.61 lbs) and measured 53 cm (20.88 inches). Luca joins big brother Finn, 2 1/2.

My third son’s first name is Luca! It seems to be very popular in Europe and not so popular here.

It’s indeed a very popular name in Germany. A few years ago, it was plain old Lucas, but nowadays the name mostly comes without the “s”. There must be ssomething about Italian names… But anyway. What I was going to ask is, who is that guy anyway? I’m German and I’ve never heard of him… so I’m just wondering…

Anna, he’s been competing in the Tour de France a number of times. But yes, he’s not exactly famous.
