Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner to raise Violet in Boston area

Us Weekly reports that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have decided to make the Boston area their permanent residence, instead of Los Angeles, where they were previously based, in an effort to raise daughter Violet Anne, 8 months, in "as un-Hollywood an area as possible." Ben and Jen were both raised on the East Coast themselves – Ben just outside of Boston in Cambridge, MA, and Jen in West Virginia.  The couple lived in Boston for most of the spring and early summer this year, and also spent time in the city early last fall while Jen was still pregnant.

Us Weekly also points out that in moving to Boston,  the couple will be much closer to Violet’s grandmother, Ben’s mother Chris, and could perhaps hit her up for some free babysitting – but she may already have booked sitting dates with her other grandchild – Indiana August, 2, son of Casey Affleck and Summer Phoenix.

Good for them. Since Jennifer no longer as Alias to tie her down to LA, Ben & Jen have really no reason to be there. It doesn’t suprise me that they are moving back to Boston for good. You don’t have to live in LA to have a great movie career anymore.

Awww, yay!! I live about half an hour west of Boston and am very proud of my city-glad to see Ben and Jen love it too! I’ll be sure to let y’all know if and when I see the family around, which could be sooner rather than later-Ben will be right in my town around the 27th of this month working on his movie “Gone, Baby, Gone.” One of my classmates saw him at the Subway in our town about two months ago and manages to snag a pic on her cell-it was definitely Mr. Affleck! I hope this rumor is true.

Love it. So glad that even though they are “celebrities” they act like regular people. And so glad that Violet will be raised with her extended family around. Her grandparents in West Virginia are really close so she will have them around as she is growing up. So important for a kid. Happy for them and the family.

Jennifer Garner seems really down to earth it’s one of the reasons I like her (besides being a good actress). Dawn said it best, you don’t have to live in LA to have a great movie career.

WOW! I didn’t know Casey married Summer Phoenix, nor did I know they named their son after River’s character (Indiana Jones) and his birthdate (August)

There’s also been rumors that his middle name is August because that’s when he was conceived! I don’t think Casey or Summer has ever confirmed the origins of the name though, although there’s been lots of speculation re: the River connections.

Good for them! I live in Boston, and this story was on our local news this afternoon. Living in the Boston area will give them some free babysitting services, since Ben’s mom lives in Cambridge and Jen’s sister lives in Newton.
