Michael Douglas dishes on family resemblance and fathers and daughters

by auditioning contributor Laura:

Promoting his upcoming movie, "You, Me, and Dupree," in which he plays Kate Hudson’s character’s father, Michael Douglas spoke candidly to "Entertainment Tonight" on 7/10/06 about real-life fatherhood.  Douglas admits to being overprotective of his two young children with Catherine Zeta Jones (son Dylan, nearly 6, and daughter Carys, 3), describes family resemblance ("I see more of Catherine in Dylan, and more of myself in Carys"), gushes about the "incredible connection with fathers and daughters," and chuckles about having known Kate so long that he actually changed her diapers 27 years ago when she was a baby.  He and Kate’s famous mom, Goldie Hawn, have been "dear friends" for decades (a guy who changes diapers?  Dear friend, indeed!).

does he mean personality wise? because looks wise dylan and carys are carbon copies of him. and i’m glad he’s playing kate’s dad and not the husband like he was to the daughter of his other friend Bruce Paltrow :D

I think Dylan looks exactly like Catherine and Carys looks like him.

Something about men and little girls though. My daughter gets a long with men and doesn’t really take to many women.

I think both their kids look like Catherine, but maybe that’s just me. She is one of the most gorgeous women in the world– I wouldn’t mind looking like her myself!
