Royals player Jimmy Gobble welcomes first child

Kansas City Royals player Jimmy Gobble took a day away from the playing field as he and his wife, Julie, welcomed their first child, son Porter James, on Wednesday, July 5 at St. Luke’s South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas after being induced.
"Everything went great. We went in at 5:30 [a.m. CT] and she had the baby at 4:14 [p.m. CT]. There wasn’t much strain on her,” said the 24-year-old left fielder. "The hours kind of flew by, you know. It took a while to get the process going, but once it got going, it kind of just jumps on you. It took about an hour to push and then Porter came out. It was a beautiful moment, but I was looking around to make sure the nurses weren’t freaking out and everything was okay. It was a really beautiful moment for me and my wife to share together."
