Lance Armstrong on teaching his own kids to cycle

by auditioning sports contributor Angela:

Retired cyclist Lance Armstrong didn’t have much luck getting his son Luke to learn how to ride his bike. “My daughter, who’s 4, actually rode before my son, who’s 6. When he saw his little sister out there doing it, you’d be amazed at how quickly he started. My son was the last one in his class to ride a bike without training wheels,” said the seven time winner of the Tour de France.

Cycling isn’t the only sport the Armstrongs enjoy. Lance and Luke visited Austin, Texas to watch legendary athlete Roger Clemens pitch a baseball game in the past. “I think the dynamic of a father and son going to a baseball game is special," Lance concluded.

Lance has three children, Luke and twin daughters Isabelle and Grace, from his first marriage to Kristin Richard.

See that’s awesome when a parent takes the initiative to their kids active & go outside. That’s not to say you can’t be active indoors. I know in this day in age of technology, some parents and children opt for video games, computers or staying inside watching tv rather than going outside..Way to go Lance!

Lance and Luke were very cute at the Express game the other night! They also sat by Matthew McConaughey!!!

oh I know what you mean Natalie. My parents would usually send us outside to play, even though we did end up watching TV some in the summer too. Anymore though today it seems like the activity level of the parents has much to do with the child. If the parents never take the iniative to ride bike themselves, then their kids may not either.

Still really to each his own, but still I think it’s good for kids to stay active, broken bones and so forth notwithstanding…lol!

(I mean which would you rather have with your children, a broken bone from a child’s rigorous outdoor play, or childhood obesity which can lead to a lifetime of health issues in the not-so-distant future from a lax childhood?)

Glad to see that my 5 year old isn’t the only who can’t ride a bike w/out training wheels and he seems to have no interest in bikes…he’s rather just run around.

I think it’s great that he’s not pushing his own passion on his kids, he seems perfectly fine with the idea that his son isn’t into biking.
