Geri Halliwell has said that she wants to raise her daughter, Bluebell Madonna, alone, without the baby’s father Sacha Gervasi. But due to pressure from celebrity friends she has decided to let Gervasi meet his daughter who was born a month ago. Geri even left Gervasi’s name off the birth certificate, wanting to be a proud single mother but her friend, singer Robbie Williams, has urged her to give in. Now Geri is in talks with Gervasi to work out ways for both of them to be important in Bluebell’s upbringing.

Great news. Whatever happened between Geri and the father is between them – that little girl shouldn’t have to suffer too.

That is wonderful that she is going to let the dad be part of her life!!

What an idiot. Why would she leave his name off the birth certificate, what good will this do her child? Wake up you are supposed to put your child first. This would not fly in the US but I do not know the laws in the UK. He should petition the court to be part of her life and be name her legal father. Geri grow up!

That’s great for both parents to be part of their daughter’s life..It’s very cool when adults in general can put their daugther’s needs in front of their own.

Courtney on

Maybe she had her own reasons…….And for people to pressure her is just wrong….It’s her life and her decision….

Karen, if you’re a single mother you obviously have the choice to leave the father off the birth certificate. And there are some VERY good reasons for doing so.

I have been a single mother. I left the father off because he refused to acknowlege the pregnancy. Afterward he petitioned the court to be added. Not having a father listed does not stop their rights to the child only the mothers legal right to sue for support. I was young and naive. No snark intended what would you consider a good reason to leave them off. Especially in this case. She has named him as the father before the birth, so what was the point. I am not sure how UK laws work. In NJ I will not speak for the rest of the US now he would have to prove he is the father with a paternity test. Unless he is an axe murdering , drug addicted, child molester (you get my point) doesnt he have rights to know his child. Growing up without knowing both parents cannot be fun, even when your parents are celebs. I am a mother and an adoptee. Growing up not knowing who my family was hard on me.

So he can meet her… as a baby. Unless they agree to parent together, this is not a remarkable thing for her to do at all. I hope he has an instant connection and can impress upon Geri how much being a father to his child would mean to him in that meeting.

i hope if he is a good man and not a jerk or anything that she will let him be involved. I mean, only Geri knows him well enough to know if he would be good for their daughter. Hope it works out!

I don’t think Geri even knows him that well. Weren’t they dating less than 6 months before she got pregnant? If half of that time they were in the throes of a new romance, he probably only started to show his true self towards the end–hence they broke up. I’m sure she had her reasons, we can’t judge her until we know why.

hahaha, robbie? seriously, they should’ve used victoria beckham or kenny goss or even george michael, that’d be more believable.

Maybe Sacha didn’t want a part in Bluebell’s life until he saw her picture or something. It really isn’t something we can specualte on…

I think that it’s nice that if she lets him see her. We don’t know the reasons behind of why she wanted to raise her daughter alone but we shouldn’t judge.

Only Geri will know the circumstances, we can just speculate, but I think for her daughter’s sake she is almost obliged to at least give the father a chance. Even she can’t know him that well after such a short time, and it would be unfair to cut him off just because of personal issues or the fact that they split up. Her daughter has a right to know her father.
And it’s not entirely up to the mother either. If he wanted, the father could require a blood test and even take her to court for visitation rights. Fathers aren’t entirely powerless. Geri is right to try and keep the situation amicable and relaxed.

Geri may have her reasons for wanting to raise her daughter by herself, but it may not be her choice. Like it or not, if this guy is the father, he has just as much a right to be a part of this child’s life as Geri does.

I hope they can work things out for the sake of little Bluebell. That is one adorable baby, by the way! 8)

It’s gets my goat when a parent decides on the relationship the child has with the other parent. Like, they are doing them a favour or something. Every child has a right to know both their parents. And what about the extended family on both sides ? Bluebell may have Grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins she is missing out on.

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
