Third child and first daughter for Orioles catcher

Baltimore Orioles catcher Ramon Hernandez distributed two boxes of cigars in the team’s clubhouse Tuesday before a game as his wife, Bellatrix, had given birth to the couple’s third child and first daughter, who was named Genesis.  Bellatrix, who was due to give birth on Sunday, was induced on Monday so her husband could be present at the delivery.  Ramon was unable to be at the births of the couple’s older children, Randy and Reggie.

"Everything went fine.  [Bellatrix is] home with our daughter…The first two, she couldn’t wait,"said Hernandez.

His wife’s name is Bellatrix, and I can’t help but think of the character Bellatrix in Harry Potter.

Genesis? Does anyone know how you pronounce this?

I would hope that people know how to pronounce Genesis, considering it’s one of the most famous books of the Bible. I don’t really like it as a name though… it reminds me of that girl from the Real World. And Bellatrix also reminds me of Harry Potter .

NicoleMarie, I believe it’s pronounced pretty much as it’s read, Jen-e-sis.
Kappa, not *everyone* is religious, you know. I’ve had no exposure to religion in my life, and had no idea that Genesis was a book in the bible, till I met a girl with that name. She often gets called Gen(Jen) or Genny(Jenny). I think it’s really pretty, and suits her.
Bellatrix is ummm…. interesting.

Well, Raye, you don’t have to be religious at all to know what the book of Genesis is. It’s only one of the greatest works of writing in the history of mankind. Most educated people know what it is…sorry.

I’m not about to get into a debate as to whether or not I’m educated, seeing as I know the answer to that, and you, not knowing me, clearly don’t. My point was simply that some people have had no exposure in their life to religion/the bible, and therefore, would not know all the names included in it. I believe most people would think of one of the other more widely known books before they thought of Genesis. Anyway, I think it’s all been sorted out. Truce?
