Congratulations to them! Elisabeth is one of my favorite actresses.

I don’t like the name they have chosen for their new baby, but to each their own. The name Agnes reminds me of a mean, old aunt of mine! lol And I’m not sure about Charles for a girl? I really like the names of their older kids though. 8)

I am sure she is a beautiful baby with an unfortunate name. I am sorry but I just couldn’t call a sweet little baby, Agnes. I am assuming it’s a family name, maybe a great-grandmother.

Oooh that’s an unfortunate name. My Grandmother who if she was alive would be in her mid 80′s and she was named Agnes and she was a mean old lady LOL!!!!

oh well. I am sure a beautiful baby nonetheless.

agnes? ouch! poor kid!! it’s worse than “violet”.

anyway, congrats to elizabeth and her husband!

oh and when I first read the post I looked at the name only and my first thought was oh they had a boy! yeah I agree Charles isn’t my choice for a pretty little girl!

At least Agnes is a real name! Not sure about Charles on a girl, Agnes Charlotte woudld’ve been nicer. I’m sure the baby will be beautiful, maybe they’ll call her Aggie?

I’m not sure about the name Agnes, but maybe they’ll call her Aggie? As for the middle name of Charles, that was her late father-in-law’s name, he is an academy award winning documentary film maker. Her two older kids have middle names after family memebers — if I remember it’s Miles William (after Elisabeth’s deceased brother) and Stella Street (his mother’s maiden name).

I don’t understand! Agnes? They could at least picked a more feminine middle name.Unless it’s after a family member.Ah well not my kid lol.

It is a common name in Hungary. Actually my sister’s name is Agnes but we call her Agi.

Agnes reminds me of the exasperating neighbor of Samantha and Darrin from Bewitched.

Insulting to CBB readers, deleted. I think the name Agnes is great, a very strong name. In Latin, “agnus” means “lamb,” and it’s also the name of a Saint Agnes, the patron saint of such things as chastity, virginity, girls, gardeners, girls, and engaged couples.

And I think any middle name is perfectly acceptable, even if it happens to be a boy’s name because it’s not like she’s going to be called “Agnes Charles” for the rest of her life. Middle names are rarely used in the US. Britney’s little boy’s name is Sean not Sean Preston and I don’t know why many of you people keep referring to him as such.

Agnes is the name of my dearly departed Nana whom we lost recently… it’s a surprising choice, but lovely all the same!

And my Nana’s middle name was Armstrong – and old family name from Scotland – I don’t think it makes a difference what gender the middle name is, it is just that – a middle name! I plan on giving my children my last name as their middle name – a tribute to my father’s ancestry. And I might use Armstrong too :-)

Bloody awful name, even if it does mean she grows up to be a chaste, virginal gardener. As for being a judgemental bitch, guilty as charged. This site could use a bit more bitching and a bit less simpering as far as I can see…

Agnes beats the hell out of Shiloh, IMO.

Congrats to Elisabeth and Davis!! =)

As far as the name… don’t care for it. Hopefully they give her a nickname or call her Charlie or something. LOL

Boys’ names are used as girls’ names all the time. Ashley, Stacey, and Tracey used to be boys’ names but are now predominately used for girls, so I don’t see what the big deal is about Elisabeth using Charles. Middle names don’t really matter anyway. Agnes is unusual but there are Violets and Gretas and Hazels, so it won’t matter too much.

- Lola on

Opinion seems to be running against the name Agnes Charles. I think it’s a bit of a stretch to call a girl Charles, since the name is so strongly identified as a male name. But heck, if a child can be named Moxie Crimefighter, anything goes, I guess!
