Nelly Furtado on her new album and her daughter

Singer Nelly Furtado‘s new album, Loose, was inspired by her 2 1/2-year old daughter, Nevis. "This album wouldn’t have existed if I wasn’t a mother," says Nelly. "That’s why it’s called "Loose."

Nelly says that during the recording process of her album she would take Nevis to the park and go to the beach in Miami. At night, Nelly would record her music.  She says she’s living her own childhood over again by seeing the world through her daughter’s eyes.

Success won’t spoil Nelly if Nevis has anything to do about it. "It’s easy to just float away into the cosmos if you don’t have your 3-year-old throwing soup at you at the restaurant!"

Loose comes out June 20.

Yeah I remember hearing/reading a couple of years ago that she’d given birth, but I don’t remember hearing much about her pregnancy before that.

I have no idea if she’s still with the baby’s father or who he even is, but I suppose it’s something to research.

I would love to see a picture of Nevis. I imagine she is quite the beauty. Nelly has a beautiful complexion coupled w/ exquisite green/blue/hazel eyes.

I guess her being pregnant and the birth of her daughter Nevis got more publicity up here in Canada since she’s a native. She recently split from Nevis’ father who was/is in her band.
