New Pitt Grandparents arrive to meet Shiloh

06/04/2006 at 07:35 AM ET

Brad Pitt’s parents, Bill and Jane Pitt, arrived in Namibia yesterday to meet their new granddaughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. The proud grandparents arrived at a Namibian airport and then headed for the Burning Shores resort where Brad, Angelina, Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh are staying.

Angelina’s brother, James Haven, was also there for the birth, along the Brad’s brother, Doug.

Just Jared also has some pictures of Angelina, Doug and Maddox on the beach the day before Shiloh was born.

It really makes me sad that Angelina and her dad couldnt make up in time for the birth….as they say, let bygones be bygones….time with your loved ones is all too fleeting and we shouldnt waste it being angry with one another….does anyone know what their beef is with each other anyway?

Courtney – i think they are on speaking terms, because he commented after the birth that he couldn’t wait to meet Shiloh when Pitt and Jolie returned to the US. I believe that is how it was confirmed that they are returning to the US soon. Though i’m not 100% sure.

Actually there is an article posted on May 31 that refutes that…..yes, he cant wait to meet her, but he hasnt been allowed to…I heard about it on the news as well……Here’s the article link:

I thought I saw a snippet of Jon Voight being interviewed recently and he made some reference to saying that “one day I’ll just say ‘hey Shiloh, come here’”…or something to that effect (i was only half listening and it was a sound byte…so I’m not sure the context of it)…I got the impression too that he could see himself meeting her “one day”…in the future. I don’t know what the beef is between Angelina and him though. It does seem sad. Didn’t she dislike that he excitedly made the announcement a few years ago to the press that she had adopted Maddox?…and she didn’t want that announced yet? I don’t know…there must be deeper issues than that though…hopefully they can resolve it. It is a shame to not make amends for the sake of him knowing all of his grandchildren. Angelina doesn’t have to be on speaking terms with him, but I would hope she would allow him to know the kids.

Angelina stopped talking to her father because shortly after her divorce from Billy Bob Thornton in 2002, he accused her of having “mental problems” and said she needed to seek help.

Angelina has said she finds those comments hurtful & unforgivable.

From what I understand they have had issues on and off for years, but his comments about her mental health were the last straw.

I think it’s sad that her kids are missing out on a relationship with their grandpa, but I actually don’t blame Angelina for being so upset with her dad. I would be very angry too. Not only were his accusations hurtful, but to say it publicly was horrible.

I think there’s a lot to their relationship than we will ever know. I too had to exclude my father from my life and I’ve been happier and healthier ever since. Excluding my father does not mean I hate him (I do not) or that it ends all chances of reconciliation (sp?), it means that my mental health is worth more important than maintaining an unhealthy relationship with my father. I’m going to give Angelina the benefit of the doubt and say she’s doing what’s best for herself and her children. Just my 2 cents.
