Actress Lea Salonga welcomes a baby girl

Baby_5Leasal_1 Actress Lea Salonga and her husband Richard Chien welcomed a baby girl, Nicole Beverly, on May 16th in Manila, the Philippines.  This is the couple’s first child.  Nicole weighed in at 6 lbs, 10 oz, and was 19 inches long when she was born at 12:12 pm. Lea had a natural birth aided by an epidural, and is nursing her daughter.

"My husband and I are both well-prepared to lose sleep while personally looking after our baby, feeding her and changing her diapers," Lea said.

The couple had previously said that they were keeping their choice for their daughters name a secret before the birth. The middle name, Beverly, is after Lea’s deceased mother-in-law.

In 1991, Lea won a Tony Award for her role as Kim in Broadway’s Miss Saigon

Congrats to them – she’s beautiful, but since when does a ‘natural birth’ include an epi?

It was meant to mean a vaginal birth. The previous article mentions that it was very important to Lea to avoid a c-section – that’s what this article is referring to.
