Tom Cruise talks about baby

05/04/2006 at 10:45 AM ET

Actor and proud father, Tom Cruise, has been busily promoting his new movie, Mission: Impossible III. During his appearance on Good Morning America, and The Letterman Show, he excitedly talked about fiance Kate/Katie Holmes and daughter Suri Cruise.

"Suri, she’s very strong. She’s kicking," Tom said. He added that he was afraid Suri would kick herself right off the changing table while he was reaching for diapers. He also mentioned the shopping he did for Suri in Paris, and said, "The fun that I had, little girl clothes are incredible." Letterman asked if Katie had a long delivery, and Tom said, "No. It happened quickly." He also said that Suri is up to 7lbs, 10 oz, and is at home being cared for by her mother. When asked how Katie was doing, Tom answered, "She’s doing spectacular".

Tom was expected to return home last night, to finally join Katie and Suri.

Honestly, how could he possibly know she’s kicking or what she’s doing? He left the week after she was born, and has been in Paris, Rome, Mexico City, and New York.

I would have thought this much wanted child would have caused Mr. Cruise to let go of his ego for a few months so that he could bond with that newborn blessing.

He could know via telephone or those nifty things called webcams…. How is having to work any part of his ego. Actors and actresses are not gods and goddesses. They also have contracts and things to fulfill like any other deadline at otherwise “normal” jobs. The success of this movie depends a lot on the promotion of it. Sure he may not need the money this movie will generate but he’s not the only one involved. There are cameramen and light/sound technicians, etc who depend on the monetary gain from this movie. After already becoming rich in his career I can only guess that he may actually LOVE what he does and will continue to do it because he has a passion for it. I’m sure Katie stands behind him 100% percent and knows when this is over and done with, he will smother her and Suri with attention.
Sorry so long…… :}

Well said, Maria =)

I remember hearing something the other day about how he had a few days off from promoting his film and he spent time home with Katie & Suri.

well said! As much as I can’t stand Tom, I have always thought he was a great dad! Once he gets home to Kate and Suri I am sure he will shower them with love and affection.

I’m not gonna say that the whole Tom and Katie thing doesn’t seem strange at times, but Tom seems genuinely happy and excited about Suri. I wish them happiness! 8)

I’m not a fan of the TomKat Media Monomania but I do think Tom is genuine when it comes to fatherhood. To throw him a bone, he has demonstrated a good track record with his two other children.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
