Awesome! Looks like Angelina has inspired a new celebrity trend, adoption!

I don’t believe angelina started any kind of trend. Many celebs adopted years in advance to Angie. I think her’s is more prominent though since she has become a US ambassador and adopted from other countries.

But good for Halle. I think she’ll make a great mom and adoption is the way to go esp. for someone not being able to hold onto a man. Damn shame too cause she’s stunning.

Joy you are right. I guess Angie has just brought so much attention to it, which is good. 8)

I thought she adopted Eric Benet’s daughter when they were married. She was referred to as “her adopted daughter India” in articles both during and after their marriage.

So funny, to hear people attributing adoption so much to Jolie. Actress Mia Farrow, who was married to Frank Sinatra among others, adopted some 12 kids from many countries, including the US, years of course, before Angelina Jolie. Like Jolie, she was a UN ambassador.

As an adoptive mom, I bristle when I hear adoption being labeled as ‘trendy’. Far from it. Adoption has been around since biblical times.

A more accurate term is ‘awareness’.

I can assure you, Joy that as an adoptive mom, ‘I can hold onto a man’ as I have been married 10 years. Again, adoption isn’t some consolation prize in any circumstance. :(

How is it that every celeb that has adopted has their child(ren) are labelled as such? (There is nothing wrong with adoption!).

Yet, when a child comes to a family via biology, there is no mention of that, hypothetically speaking “Kate and Tom are delighted to have Suri in their family after a wonderful sexual tryst 9 1/2 months earlier where Kate enjoyed an earth-shattering orgasm.”

Halle also needs to learn positive adoption language.

Children don’t come to us naturally – they may come to us biologically or through adoption. As she has used it, it implies that adoption is not natural.

Thank you for allowing me to post this PSA.

^ no I think you misunderstood my comment.

I am saying that it’s a wonderful thing for her to adopt considering she’s not in any kind of stable relationship. Nobody said anyone had to go adopt as a couple. Many choose to do it alone, Rosie O’Donnell, Sharon Stone, Calista Flockhart. But to have a child biologically obviously she needs a man to help her out on that end. And since she hasn’t found it she should adopt and that would be a wonderful thing for her to do to help another child.

You don’t need to be in a stable relationship to have a baby biologically (perhaps it’s not wise, but that’s another issue). In fact, Halle said a while ago that she’d be willing to have a baby with whoever she was dating at the time and the father would have no obligations.

I apologize if my original comment sounded snide or was offensive in anyway, especially since I referred to adoption as “trendy”…I know adoption is nothing new, nor is Angelina the first celeb to do it. As a noter pointed out above, Mia Farrow, to name just one, has adopted many children. I guess it just seems like Angelina has brought a lot of attention to it, which is obviously a good thing.

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
