Congrats to her! I really hate the name though. I think both names sound like boys names but I guess Rowen is okay. Grier is just not. Why would you doo that to your girl. Did they want boys and like the names so much that they used them anyway? And why Hammond?! If you are going to use a boyish name at least balance it out with a feminine middle name. Now everytime they introduce their children they will have to explain that they are girls. Heck, my little girl hase a very feminine name and always wares pink and sometimes some people still ask. I fell for poor litle Grier. You can't evan shorten it to something cute. She will end up being called HAM!

Roise, "Grier" is pronounced just like "Greer" as in Greer Garson. We have a park near where I live called Grier Park, and it's pronounced just like Greer. I think it's the Dutch spelling.

How is the name Grier pronounced? Like the actress Greer Garson? To me, it seems more like a surname than a first name, but Hanson, Hudson, Mitchell and other names are too and they seem to work well as first names.

I hope you're not right StephRainey! Still what a thought! Anyway fortunately today there are ways to find out if the baby is yours, such as a DNA test, however that could be strange after a person has already bonded with their child for a time.

I guess we'll have to keep a look out to make sure Suri Cruise doesn't look too much like Brooke Shields...

Maria, I agree with you. Vitamins and exercise should probably be part of everyone's routine. I'm just saying that I think it is very unfair of Tom to suggest that women can combat PND with vitamins and exercise alone. I myself was fortunate enough to not have PND, but my best friend nearly commited suicide. It can be a very serious condition, and I'm sure for some women antidepressents is the answer. Of course exercising and vitamins along with it would be an excellent idea. I would imagine that it's a case by case type of thing. I don't profess to be an expert on the subject, unlike Tom, he's read a few books, so you know, he knows everything! LOL! *rolls eyes* 8)

I have this great fear that in a few years it will be found out that Baby Henchy & Baby Cruise were switched shortly after birth.
That was the first thing I thought of after I read that they were born the same day at the same hospital.
Maybe it's just my freaky pregnancy hormones working well overtime.

"Let's hope Katie doesn't get PPD, Tom will have her exercising and taking vitamins - what a smuck!"
Oh yes, God forbid she should be forced to exercise and take vitamins!! *gasp!* lol...
While I know psychiatry/prescription meds are probably the best thing for PPD, a little exercise goes a long way for your health, PPD or not....

Shields Has Baby Girl

Actress Brooke Shields has given birth to her second child, a daughter named Grier Hammond Henchy. The baby weighed in at seven pounds and measured 20 inches when she was delivered in Los Angeles yesterday. Shields and husband Chris Henchy wed in 2001 and already have a daughter, Rowan, who will be three-years-old next month. The actress suffered from post-natal depression after the birth of her first child. Shields wrote a book about the experience, Down Came The Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression, and has spoken out about using antidepressants to help with the problem. Last year, she was famously criticized by Tom Cruise who, as a Scientologist, opposes psychiatry and prescription medication to combat depression. Shields used Ivf treatments to become pregnant with her first child, but was able to conceive her second child without the fertility treatments. The Suddenly Susan star told People magazine, "This pregnancy has been a lot easier. Nothing is going to shock me anymore. I am more prepared."
