Reese Witherspoon recently spent over $400 for son Deacon, 2, at Brentwood, CA shop M. Fredric.  Here’s what’s now hanging in his closet…

Billabong jacket ($44)
Quiksilver cargo shorts ($40)
Plaid buttondown ($32)

well damn! I’d like to see a celeb shop in walmart or target for thier kids clothes. 4.99 for a pair of shorts is my kind of spending for kids…..well then again I’m not a celebrity making 12 million a film 🙂

I’m with you Joy! $40 for a pair of kid’s shorts! I’m not sure I could bring myself to drop that much cash on kids clothing even if I was loaded! It just seems ridiculous to spend that amount of money on an item that he will no doubt grow out of in a couple of months!

if you had the means to spend that kind of money or not have to think about how much it cost, you all would do it i’m sure – its her money – she can do wth she wants with it! =) we shouldn’t be judging anyone for spending what they can afford.

yeah for deacon getting new clothes – i love shopping for my daughter! and so what if he grows out of them in a few months – oh well!

I’m not judging her, it’s just hard for me to get my head around those prices! But on her income I’m sure it doesn’t seem like a lot! 8) It’s all relative I suppose.

Reese is awesome and I totally respect how she conducts herself. She hasn’t paraded her kids around or made a spectical out of her marriage for the sake of publicity. Britney should take a page out of her book! Don’t get me wrong, I like Brit, but I have little respect for how she courts the media and paparazzi, then again, she had Madonna to show her the ropes. It’s a way of keeping herself out in the public even when her career is in a lull!

Seems like an awful lot of money to spend on clothes, even if she does have it. Oh well, I can’t say with 100% certainty that I wouldn’t do the same if I had that kind of loot. I love buying clothes for my daugther, and I already tend to spend more than I should (total, not just on 1 item of clothing).

If I had the money I would spend it on special things like dresses for birthday parties and adorable little coats or suits for pictures, Christmas, Easter, etc, but for a lousy pair of shorts that will get covered in grass stains and eventually tossed out? Nope.

When you have tons of dough like celebs, $40 for a pair of shorts for a two year old is like you and me going nuts at Old Navy over the clearance rack. It’s a mere drop in the bucket for them.

well I understand she’s loaded. I know folks who don’t have that kind of $$ to spend on their clothes but they do anyways (including the baby I nanny for). I know someone who only will buy her kids named brand clothing and tells me that her kids (who are under 7) will get made fun of for not having something that doesn’t say Ralph Lauren or Tommy on it. I’m like honey back when I was little I was even lucky if I got new clothes!

LOL…my dad and I go round and round on this. When I was little my parents couldnt afford the hot things at the time..( jordashe and calvin klien) and now that I have 3 kids I tend to buy name brands…I adore gymboree and janie and jack and hanna andersson. BUT ( and this is a big BUT) play clothes come from walmart or once upon a child (a resale store with only brand names) I find that the name brands last longer which for me is good cause I can hand it down from my 5 yo to my 4 year old next summer and htne to my now 2 year old the summer after that.

as long as the kids look good i can’t fault her for buying what she can afford…I looked at the website and was hoping to see some stuff but nothing there but addresses and such.
