Model Natalia Vodianova welcomes second child and first daughter

Capt Russian model (and face of Calvin Klein) Natalia Vodianova, 23, gave birth to her second child on Friday, March 24th, three days after her due date. Baby Neva was named after a Russian river near to the spot where Natalia married her husband Justin Portman, 36. Neva was born with blonde hair and blue eyes, weighed 7 lbs and is "a whole centimeter longer than Lucas [was at birth, and he's] pretty tall, so I can only imagine how tall Neva is going to be!" says Natalia.

I don’t get it when someone mentions that a baby was born with blue eyes. All babies are born with blue eyes and they gradually change to their permanent color over the next 6 months (but you can usually tell if a baby’s eyes are going to turn brown because they will look like a “muddy” blue). Anyway…lol. Congratulations to her. She’s really pretty.

Sorry I have to disagree with the ‘all babies are born with blue eyes.’ My daughter was born with the darkest chocolate eyes. I think that is an old wives tale. :)

Mcgrawfan-

It’s a biological fact that the MAJORITY of caucasion babies are born with blue eyes (like I said, they may still look brown… I have brown eyes and mine were pretty dark when I was born, but nevertheless, they were still blue). Sometimes there’s an exception for babies with Asian/Indian ancestry. Here is a link that helps explain it:

Thank you for the link it is very interesting. We do have distant Mexican and American Indian ancestry, so maybe that’s where it came from. :)
