Angelina in Berlin

CatpalmerPeople.com has a photo of Angelina stepping out of a Berlin, Germany toy shop with Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 1.  She’s toting Zahara on her hip in a Hip Hugger.  (I have one in toile and can’t wait to use with Anya.  They’re great for carrying your child around on your hip and can be used with babies who can sit up unassisted, around 6 months.)

Thanks to CBB Reader Kris.

I thought that it was Ange’s bag at first. They are such a great idea and very good for pregnant people, by the looks of it, rather than having one of the carriers at the front.

That pic cannot possibly be Zahara. Zahara is a black baby and the baby in that pic is white. I am confused.

The picture refers to the carrier….not the baby :) I know, I was a little confuse at first too

Zahara is getting big. Angie looks cute. I actually don’t know how people use those things. I had a baby bjorn and tried to carry my nephew in it for a few minutes and couldn’t stand it. I am even in shape and it was still hurting my back and neck.

Joy, the Baby Bjorn is about the worst carrier out there. It’s really painful if your baby weighs more than 15 pounds or so. It’s so easy to wear your baby, but not in the Bjorn!

I can’t figure out how the Hip Hugger could be that comfortable. It looks like it’s digging into the model’s neck in the shot above, and it looks like it’s digging into Angelina’s neck in the linked photo. I carry my 20+ pounder in a ring sling on my hip like that, but the sling fits over the cap of my shoulder and fans out across my back so the weight is distributed better.

Maddox keeps getting cuter and cuter!

the Bjorn style carriers aren’t as good for babies either, because of the way all the pressure of the carrier is on their crotch. A carrier like the Patapum baby carrier is much better for babies and it’s comfy too. I agree with askmoxie that a ring sling is wonderful for comfort! And I’ve used my rings slings throughout pregnancy – you can wear babe on your back and on your hip.

I love seeing Angie and her babywearing pics!
