Emma Thompson adopts!

Emma Thompson and her husband Greg Wise have adopted a 17-year-old Rwandan orphan named Tindyebwa Agaba. The couple had undergone In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment unsuccessfully in order to give their six year old daughter Gaia a sibling. Emma was involved in charity work in Africa and adoption occurred to the couple as a happy ending to the terrible experience they had gone through with IVF.

Emma said, "I started to think about the things I could do usefully to help children. Funnily enough, through finding something else to do with my mothering instincts, other children have come and there is something to offer them – a life with an extended family, which I think is preferable to an entirely nuclear family."

She added, "Tindyebwa is doing brilliantly now. He got wonderful A’ Level (exam) results this summer. He’s putting in applications for university. He’s going great guns."

Tindyebwa’s parents were both killed during the Rwanda civil war.

Congratulations to them! I wish them happiness and joy ! It’s great that they ‘ve decided to adopt a teenage boy, it’s very rare, it’s an incredible chance for him…and for them.
