Nia Long on why she enjoys single-motherhood

When asked what she cherishes about being a single mother to son Massai, actress Nia Long, known for her roles in Best Man, Love Jones, Big Momma’s House and the upcoming Big Momma’s House 2, says it’s the freedom of parenting choices.

"You get to do it your own way," she says, "It’s wonderful… there’s a bond that we have because it’s just e and him against the world.  I get to discover life through his eyes, and he gets to learn from my experience. And I don’t feel like I’ve made any horrible mistakes…yet!"

Massai Dorsey. Her son is Massai Dorsey II. Nia and Massai were engaged to be married in June ’01 but never made it to the altar.
