Kelly Ripa's kids think every parent should be on TV

01/22/2006 at 06:41 PM ET

Lolakelly1cqKelly Ripa was featured in the February issue of Redbook and shared her kids take on her and actor hubby, Mark Consuelos’, careers.

"I’m a very devoted parent. The kids come to work with us," Kelly says. " Michael, who is 8, is the only one who understands that his parents don’t have conventional jobs. At 4 and 2 years old, Lola and Joaquin believe that everyone does what I do for a living. They’ll say, ‘What show is your mom on?’"

That is such a great photo of her and Lola. I’m just now looking at in my own magazine too. lol

Kelly has beautiful children, I agree, however they must be terribly spoiled to assume that “everyone’s” parents are television stars.

Of course that’s just my humble opinion.

It seems to me just to be a case of the younger Consuelos children overgeneralizing things (the way that kids often will). It does stand to reason that if children see both of their parents working in one particular industry, they’ll associate that industry with all parents. It could just as easily have happened that Kelly and Mark were doctors, and the kids might have developed the habit of asking other children what their parents’ specialties were.

Yeah that’s just a kid thing. I once read an interview in which, R&B singer Erykah Badu said that her son Seven (by Andre 3000 from the rap/R&B band Outkast) mistakenly thought that everyone’s on the radio. Since he often heard his grandmother singing music by Anita Baker (around the house and stuff I guess) when he heard Anita Baker on the radio, he thought it was his grandma. I guess in his mind, since mom and dad are on the radio, then everyone must be!

Kids are soooooooo funny.
