Plot to kidnap son of PM Blair causes group to disband

01/20/2006 at 10:00 AM ET

Members of a British father’s group, called the Fathers 4 Justice, have decided to disband following a newspaper report that extremist members were plotting to kidnap the 5-year-old son of British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

"We will cease all operations and bring the campaign to a close," one of the founding members Matt O’Connor says.

The little boy, Leo Blair, was not kidnapped and the group, which campaigns for the rights of divorced fathers, denies any involvement in said plan. Media reports claim that the police foiled early stages of the plan to kidnap little Leo.

However, the group does say that many of their members were questioned. Some of their previous campaign activities included scaling high profile buildings, dressing as superheroes and throwing purple powder on the prime minister.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
