Considering Capone

01/18/2006 at 01:33 AM ET

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are rumored to be considering the name Capone for their second baby if it’s a boy. The only Capone we know of is the 1920’s gangster Al Capone.   Supposedly, Gwyneth and Chris think "Capone" has character.

I’m not sure how bogus this rumor is because the source also says that Gwyneth and Chris is planning to have their North London home, which they purchased from Kate Winslet, exorcised and buddy Madonna is rumored to have recommended a particular exorcist.  (First Kabbalah, now exorcism?)

Apple and Capone? Well, two babies with two unusual names, I guess that’d fit…?

Exorcism??? Okay, good tip. Capone?? Totally not my style and why would they name a baby Capone anyway?? It just brings to mind the terrible things Al Capone did. At least for me. Does this mean baby #2 is a boy??? I was looking forward to another fruit name or at least something that doesn’t evoke my shaking my head.

In researching rare produce, I came up with a list of fitting potential names for their next “crop”, mostly suited for a boy, but some girl names thrown in too:

Abyssinian Banana, American Chestnut,Bengal Quince, Billy Goat Plum, California Wild Grape, Carpathian Walnut, Cashew, Clove Currant, Cornelian Cherry, Country Walnut, Currant Tomato, David Peach, Davidson’s Plum, Fox Grape, King Orange, Saigon Cinnamon, and my personal favorites……Zulu Nut, Farkleberry, and Prairie Potato….

Heeheehee….

I can not say how much I admire those two often enough, but excorcism…that would be way to weird for me!!! But well, don`t believe in everything!
I think Capone is creative, cute name apart from the history, has a nice sound but I actually thought that the baby should be called Bruce, if it`s a boy, because of Gwyneth dad!?

I bet it is all just a rumor, and if it is a boy, my money is on Bruce (at least somewhere in the name)

I’m about 99.999% certain that she confirmed this on the Golden Globe red carpet (on E!).

No, she didn’t. This is what was said during all her GG interviews (E! AH, ET, etc) – I’m a huge Gwyn fan.

-She and Chris know the sex of the baby and aren’t revealing it. She’s also not revealing how far along she is – just “many months,” although the Sun tabloid reports that she told Anthony Hopkins that she’s due in April. Chris and Apple were in LA staying at her mom Blythe’s house while she attended the awards with her brother Jake.

-Rachel Weisz talked to Gwyneth in the bathroom, then told an ET reported that she is 5 months pregnant, and that Gwyneth is a few weeks ahead of her – suggesting that Gwyneth is 6, almost 7 months.

Anyway, this is widely regarded to be untrue, as they’ve mentioned before that they would like to honor her deceased dad, Bruce, if they ever had a boy. So we’ll see. They’ve just been so secretive with this pregnancy that I highly doubt they’ve been discussing name options with those outside their family. JMO, though.

I heard that if it’s a girl born in April they will name her April. If it’s a boy, for me personally, I would use Bruce as a middle name. My father’s name is Edward and my nephew’s name is Jake Edward.

Maybe they will surprise us and go with a traditional name!

Apple’s cute, but I got hooked on the MTV show THERE AND BACK about the O-Town guy and he said that growing up as a boy with the name Ashley was “hell” for him and he tried to change it while in the 5th grade.

I am not a big fan of Capone. The negative connotations will just “haunt” him as a child and teenager.

Personally, I never minded the Apple name, it is darling. My niece is 4 months older than Apple and I dressed her up like Apple one day with the baby uggs, a peasant blouse and a pair of Lipstick jeans PLUS I put a Michelle Roy flower clip in her hair and they looked like twins. Except, Josie has poker straight hair. And my sister doesn’t have a Bugaboo!

PS – What faith is Gwyn and Chris raising their children? I know that she is both Christian and Jewish but feels more connected to the Jewish faith although she didn’t have a Bat Mitzvah and her brother had a Bar Mitzvah and I know Mary Wigmore is Apple’s Godmother so was Apple Baptized? Can anyone help me out here? Was Gwyn baptized? Anyone know?
