Danielle leaves job, becomes WAHM

01/10/2006 at 10:12 AM ET

Img_4288I gave notice at my job last week and am happy to announce that I have joined the ranks of SAHMs/WAHMs everywhere!  (That’s Stay At Home Mom/Work At Home Moms.)

It was bittersweet because I loved my company and the people I worked with, but I am so happy to be staying home with Anya full-time and being able to work on the Celebrity Baby Blog full-time (or at least during her naps!).

I don’t even have kids and I envy you! lol!

Anyway I just hope you don’t have to encounter the same problem that this one mom had on an episode of Supernanny, where she had her boss calling her/emailing her that she was late with the expense reports or some other task (possibly updating their business website or contacting other clients), while at the same time her four year old twins were throwing flour all over the kitchen & causing general chaos.

(In that case and with kids that age, I might’ve started the kids into a preschool program for at least part of the day, especially if my job was that time sensitive despite being from home.)

Anyway good luck to you and working from home. It should probably go pretty well if you can get Anya to take a nap during the times when you need to do your work.

Congratulations! You will love it! Fortunately for me I have a job that I do while staying at home with my young daughter too. Some mothers like to work outside the home from their kids and some have too as their jobs will not allow them work at home. I am so extremely grateful that I chose a profession that will allow me to work at home and be with my daughter full time. I don’t know how other mothers manage it. I wouldn’t be able to stand being away from her that long.

Enjoy every minute of it, Danielle. My daughter is now 15-1/2 months old, and it seems like just yesterday she was born. Apparently I blinked, and she “grew up.”

Congrats! You certainly have one beautiful, healthy looking baby girl.

Danielle,
Congratulations to you!! I hope you know that you have probably made the most important decision in your life in choosing to stay home and raise your daughter. You are so lucky to have that choice. I am married with 2 young boys and unfortunately I have no choice but to work full time or we would not be able to pay the bills. I would give anything for the opportunity to spend more time at home where I am needed the most. Good luck Danielle! Anya is a cutie pie! :-)

That’s great! I happen to be a SAHN (stay at home nanny)lol! I take care of an adorable precious 12 month old little girl. She’s like having my own kid but without the bigger responsibility!

Her mother also has the opportunity to work from home. She informed me that she was going to keep the baby once or twice a week to save on childcare but quickly learned that working from home became harder then she thought. She never got anything done having the baby with her and now I’m back to having her full time. So she still works from home but will still bring the baby to me because now that she’s mobile she can’t work and chase her around.

I hope it works out for you and it’s a wonderful feeling getting to watch a young one grow up. I am not the baby’s mother but I truly feel like I can step into that role when her real mother isn’t around. And btw she goes to her mother as equally as she comes to me. Her mother is just happy that she has me to be there for her daughter so that she doesn’t feel quilty leaving her.

Good luck with your adorable baby!

Danielle,
That is great news! I had Lucas the same day as you had Anya and had to return to work six weeks later. It is so difficult to leave him every day! You’re so lucky to be in a situation where you can work from home. Congratulations and good luck!

How wonderful! Best of luck to you. Your daughter is a beauty; as soon as she’s mobile, she’ll keep you busy! Thank goodness for laptops. I’m just quitting my job to devote more time to my daughter and graduate school. I feel fortunate to have the extra time with her — I know you must feel the same. :)

Congrats Danielle. I recently gave birth to a baby boy in early Oct. and also have a 9 yr old and 6 yr old and thought I would be going back to work full time. Me and hubby thought it over and thought it would be best for me to become a SAHM so I gave my wonderful job notice before the new year started. I’m going to miss them too but me being at home with the baby is more important to me.
Goodluck with everything!

Just wondering Danielle (even though you’ve probably answered this before) is your daughter’s name pronounced An-ya or On-ya?

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
