'Stuttering John' Melendez welcomes third child and first son

01/03/2006 at 01:57 AM ET

Jmelendez Tonight Show with Jay Leno announcer John Melendez, 40, who you may remember as Howard Stern’s cringe-inducing red-carpet interviewer ‘Stuttering John,’ is a father for the third time. Wife Suzanna gave birth to son Oscar David on January 1st, where he was the first baby born in 2006 in the San Fernando Valley. He was born by emergency c-section at 12:27 am, and weighed in at 8 lbs, 2 oz. Oscar joins big sisters Greta, 9, and Lily Belle, 5.

Said his wife, "It’s just funny that my husband’s the one who usually is in the spotlight…To pick how you come into this world and have it be New Year’s Day is pretty funny to me." John however, was only concerned about hitting up Jay Leno – "Three kids already, I might have to ask Jay Leno for a raise. That’s a lot of mouths to feed."

This is the second celebrity Oscar born this week – boxer Oscar de la Hoya welcomed his own Oscar on December 29th.

Mom Said It

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
