Race to christen Danish Prince

10/23/2005 at 01:20 PM ET

Denmark’s Princess Mary and Prince Frederik are trying to enjoy their new status as parents while rushing to prepare to formally introduce their newborn son to the world at his christening. In preparation for the big day there are some big decisions that need to be finalized, what they will call their baby and who will be his Godparents. Christian is favored for his first name but Mary and Frederik are apparently struggling with the middle names, with grandparents names Henrik and John being the most likely. Godparent possibilities include Mary’s two sisters Patricia and Jane, and Mary’s best friend Amber Petty; along with Frederik’s brother Prince Joachim, and the Norwegian Crown Prince Hakon.

If the royal couple want their first born son, and heir to the throne, to be christened in the antique lace christening gown that has been handed down to generations before him, they must rush before he outgrows it. When Frederik wore the gown four weeks after he was born, relatively the same size as his son, he fitted into it very snugly.

I predict Christian Henrik John Valdemar. I hope they chose something surprising though.
