Tom and Katie plan a shot-gun wedding in Mexico

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are reportedly planning on getting married next month in Mexico. A source close to the couple has revealed that Tom and Katie chose the Ritz-Carlton in Cancun as the venue for their wedding four months ago, before finding out that Katie was pregnant, "They both decided on the Ritz-Carlton in Cancun as soon as they got engaged and initially were planning on tying the knot around Christmas." Both Katie and Tom want to get married before the birth of their child with the source adding, "Tom’s old fashioned … He wants his child to be born in wedlock. He’s very romantic and wants everything to be in place before the birth."

In other Tom and Katie news it has been announced that Katie has pulled out of a film she was supposed to start early next year so she can concentrate entirely on her new life as wife and mother.

More on that from CBB contributor Nisha:

Actress Katie Holmes is reportedly so busy just being Tom Cruise’s  pregnant fiance’ that she has pulled out of her next film role. The actress, who recently announced her pregnancy, was set to star opposite Dennis Quaid in the biopic film,  Shame on You.Katie would have prepared for her real life role as wife to Tom by portraying the wife of country music legend Spade Cooley.Seems like Katie’s pregnancy is slowing her down already.Source: TV Guide

Tom is old fahsioned? Oh please!! He obviously isn’t too old fashioned, or he would be more concerned about making sure that the baby was CONCEIVED in wedlock. It all sounds a bit fishy to me. I sure hope they know what they are doing and that it actually works out for them.

I thought the same thing! I think that Tom has finally found someone naive enough to believe his BS. He also seems to have found someone he can control. I respect him less and less each time I read about this relationship. UGH!

Is anyone NOT seeing the IRONIC convenience and timing of this wedding?!?! Katie take some advice and get out of the relationship!!!! The baby may be better off! The more I read about their relationship the less I respect him too…this whole thing wreaks of mind control and manipulation…now she is dropping out of films…maybe that’s great but there is only so much you can focus on in pregnancy (i should know i’m almost 7 months). Is this yet another way to control her career and life?? (This is in NO WAY AT ALL knocking or disrespecting stay-at-home moms…). But, it’s ironic since her career was just heading into full swing after her Dawson Creek lull. This whole relationship baffles me!!

Yeah, I think it is very interesting that she has now pulled out of her upcoming film as well. Sure wouldn’t want to take a chance on her becoming a bigger star than Tom! On the plus side, this will now free her up to follow Tom around like a little puppy seemingly hanging on his every word….like it actually means something HA! This whole thing is a huge CROCK!

Ok, I’m skeptical about their relationship too – but, in Katie’s defense, she’s looked a bit tired and under the weather in many of the recent photos we’ve seen… so depending on how her pregnancy is going, she may figure that she just won’t be up to working on a film when she’s that far along (and if we figure she’s 4-5 months along now, she’ll be 7-8 months along early next year). When I was pregnant, I had a job where I was on my feet most of the day, and I stopped working when I was 7 months along because it was so physically demanding and I was totally exhausted (and it’s a good thing I stopped when I did, because my daughter decided to arrive 6 weeks early!) So anyway, despite all the other issues surrounding Tom and Katie’s relationship, I think she deserves the benefit of the doubt regarding her work choices…

maybe it’s me but i’m struck by the irony that the movie she dropped out on was titled “shame on me”…

i feel bad for her b/c she does seem to be completely besotted and to have lost the will to think for herself. her family has to be incredibly worried and not just b/c she’s pregnant…i fear that she’s going to wake up soon and feel like she’s stuck, can’t get out of the quagmire, etc. hopefully her family will still be there when/if she needs them.

I hope one of the movies she’s dropping out of is the next Batman. She was the only part of Batman Begins that was very good.

I pray that she wakes up from the nightmare that is her life soon – but I fear it’s too late. God have mercy on the poor little baby.

It’s unfortunate we can’t modify our posts – I guess I need to preview closer – but I meant to say that she was the only part of BB that was NOT very good.

I was going to say Patty that if you didn’t correct yourself I’d have to toture you with a wet noodle-JK. The only reason that they are having a shot-gun wedding is probably, because Katie’s parents are objecting the whole thing and everything that concerns Tom is too make sure he’s always in the spotlight. He’s a media-whore and that’s how he can only make his movies a hit. I lost respect for him when he dissed women for choosing to get help for their PPD with professional help. The whole thing is a sham anyway. I just feel bad for the child that has to be as twisted and etc by Tom Cruise. Katie Holmes is the only thing I can’t stomach when I watch Batman Begins. (The 2 disc DVD comes out on Tues. Oct. 18th for us in the US) I don’t feel sorry for Katie, just for the sweet innocent child Tom Cruise and Sciencetology are going to mess up. May God have mercy on that child’s poor soul.

Ha, old-fashioned? Try not concieving a child out of wedlock! I read the People interview with them today and something just seems off.
