We previously reported that Romeo Beckham, son of  Real Madrid player David Beckham and wife Victoria, was rushed to the hospital on October 1st.  It appears that he has again been taken to the hospital after suffering from more convulsions.  It is not known what is causing the three year old’s convulsions.

Scary! Hopefully the doctors can nail down what is causing these convulsions. Doesn’t sound good, though. If I were his parent I would demand to stay in the hospital until they figured out what was going on. Prayers for the little guy…

So so scary. Rushing your child to the hospital is the most horrifying experience. It drains the life out of you. I hope they find out what is causing it. My friends daughter went through the same thing with the constant convulsions. 911 got to know her mom by her first name because of the so many times they were called. It ended up being a virus. Lets hope this is all it is.

I don’t know if this child had fever, but everything indicate that is a febrile convulsion.

It is not uncommon, it affects up to 1 in 20 children between the ages of 6 months to 5.

Kily18…even if it is a febrile convulsion, to have a fever high enough to cause convulsions two times in a week…that fever should be dealt with. Seems like the drs would have caught that, too, being that it is so common.

I hope they officially figure out what’s wrong with Romeo and treat him for it. This has to be weighing down on everyone’s morale.😦

Actually this is the first time he got the fits this week. The first time when he was in the hospital, he was playing at home with Brooklyn and hit himself really hard on the wall and the Beckhams had to take him to the hospital. He was fine after the doctors checked him out and he was fine enough to attend his dad’s game. But when he got home, he had a very high fever which caused him to have major fits. This is quite normal for Romeo cause he has fits every 3 or 4 weeks. My friend had a chance to talk to Jackie, Victoria’s mother who told her all this.

This may be a dumb question, but when it says “convulsions” or “fits” does that mean seizures?

Yes it does.

Even if it is febrile convulsions, they can cause brain damage if not controlled. My little niece was rushed to the ER with febrile seizures (her fever spiked to 107°) and later tests confirmed that she had some moderate brain damage. The cells in the brain start to die at 107°, so that is very serious. I also had a friend whose daughter was a “breath holder” when she threw a temper tantrum and would pass out and convulse. The EMTs also got to know her by name she called them so much. They need to determine the source of the seizures – they should never be taken lightly. I hope the little guy is okay.
