Hollywood's guide to naming your child
Starting Monday October 3rd, AOL Parenting.com will run a week-long slideshow on celebrity baby names, highlighting the traditional, trendy, and exotic picks of Hollywood stars.
Those who opted for classic names for their children include supermodel Heidi Klum and her husband Seal (Henry Günther); comedian Tracey Ullman (John Albert Victor); and Six Feet Under’s Rachel Griffiths and her husband Andrew Taylor (Adelaide Rose). Celebrities who have chosen traditional boy names for their daughters include singer Michelle Branch and Teddy Landau (Owen); Melissa Etheridge (Bailey Jean); George Stephanopoulos and Ali Wentworth (Harper); and Sean & Robin Wright Penn (Dylan Frances).
The Hollywood trend of the moment for girls seems to be Ava, as in Ava Eliot, the daughter of actor Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, and Ava Elizabeth, the six-year-old daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe. And the most exotic name of late may just be Moxie CrimeFighter, the nearly four-month-old daughter of comedian Penn Jillette and wife Emily.
Parents-to-be who are still looking for the perfect name may also want to check out the site’s Celebrity Baby Namer, a compilation of the most popular and influential celebrity baby names.
