Country singer Mindy McCready attempts suicide because of pregnancy

Country singer Mindy McCready, known for her hit "Guys Do It All the Time," was forced to admit the reason she attempted suicide in July.   "I attempted to commit suicide after I found out I was pregnant," she said in court on Monday.

The 28 year old singer was found unconscious in a Florida hotel lobby on July 22, after overdosing on illegally obtained OxyContin painkillers.   Mindy said she traveled to Pinellas County, Florida to be with family, after being placed on probation for a drunk driving arrest and being beaten by her boyfriend.

"I had just been through a horrible ordeal," she said in court. "I was going to visit family." Authorities said she has since been experiencing medical complications from the pregnancy, but there has been no word on her plans for the pregnancy or baby.

Danielle adds: Mindy was was jailed in Clearwater, FL, on August 26th, after Pinellas County authorities arrested her because she allegedly left Tennessee without telling her parole officer and did not report to her officer in July.  She was on probation after pleading guilty to fraudulently obtaining the prescription drug, OxyContin, last year.

I was just going to post about this as well. I feel so bad for the baby coming into this situation. Hopefully Mindy can get her act together, and decide what she’s going to do with a baby daddy that beats her up.

Well, I can’t really believe that in the 21st century exist people that still not know about how to be protected against pregnancy…

I am not affirming that she doesn’t know, but if the boyfriend beats her and if the pregnancy means “attempts suicide” the better to do was take a pill or then kick this guy out and live her life.

How sad.. The whole situation. Sometimes life happens in a way you never would have chosen. Im sad that in such a sad situation a person has to mention about how she should have known how to protect against the pregnancy. Ya know, I used 2 different kinds of birth control and I was married with a just turned 2 year old and a 6 month old when SOMEHOW I got pregnant. We STILL have no idea what happened… her name ??? Her name is GRACE because it really is by the GRACE of God that she is here, since she didnt ask to be here and we didnt ask for her. I can’t imagine my life without her now.

Fact remains, even with court documents and press releases we still dont know the insides of her life or what she is going thru, but I do know from personal experience that it hurts when you are judged.

That is so sad. I remember years ago she was engaged to Dean Cain and then they broke up and I stopped hearing about her. I didn’t know she had so many troubles.

And Kily18, My husband had a vasectomy and 2 years later I was pregnant. So let’s not assume she was just wandering around having unprotected sex. No birth control is 100%.

Could you imagine then that perhaps this might be the scenario:

Boyfriend steals or hides birth control, including pills, condoms, IUD, patches. Or threatens to beat or kill or shoot her if she uses them.

or this: boyfriend raped her

and that yes in the 21st century maybe she didn’t have the choice to use birth control. this happens every day around the world. most of the women in this world are NOT privileged in race, class, situation to have access to birth control.

IUD means Intrauterine Device…no way could he steal it as it would be surgically placed.

I was hoping this website would remain one of the few respectful websites out there. There are so many that encourage bashing other people and/or other people’s opinions. Having said that, what a sad situation it is for Mindy. Only she knows what she has been through, and it must have been terrible. My heart goes out to her and I have tremendous concern for the baby’s health.

First of all, in any way I affirmed that she ignored the methods for not becoming pregnant.

brave: ok, I can imagine all the scenario that you posted. and make me think about another situation… before attempt suicide for being pregnant she should attempt suicide for having chosen that horrible guy, don’t you think?

Jessica: what happened with you is a completely different situation, and if pregnancy for her means “suicide” the better to do even if the guy had made vasectomy it was to take several pills and other things for not becoming pregnant.
