Looks like Britney's going to have a C-Section

by auditioning contributor Kirrily

In an interview with Elle magazine, Britney Spears revealed that she would prefer to have her baby via Caesarean, "I have a feeling I’m going to have an operation. I hope so … My Mom said giving birth was the most excruciating thing that she’s ever gone through. So, if a Caesarean doesn’t happen, I’ll be like, ‘epidural, please.’"

ok…there’s some things i could say about this one but i’ll keep my mouth shut. i really can’t understand being so eager to get pregnant, only to take the easy way out when the time comes. why not at least try something that your body is naturally prepared for? but, it’s her body i guess.

It’s Britney’s body so I think she should be able to have her baby any way she chooses. When you have someone tell you how horrible it was for them then I’m sure it really scares you. But my epidural completely numbed the pain. It was wonderful. Lol.

I have to disagree with Brooke- a c-section is surgery and any surgery takes recovery time so I don’t think voluntarily choosing a c-section is necessarily “taking the easy way out.”

I do agree that Britney’s mother should not have frightened her so much about childbirth. Everyone knows it’s NOT a piece of cake and that it IS really hard but as my mother keeps telling me, “you have the most wonderful prize at the end so it’s worth it.”

When I was pregnant I so very much wanted to be able to experience a vaginal birth, pain and all. People thought I was nuts wanting to go through the pain, but I just wanted the experience. In the end I ended up having to have an emergency C-section. I was out of the hospital in 2 days and never had any pain or took any pain medication –I was very, very lucky in this regard.

In the end all that mattered was that my daughter was safe and healthy. I still wish I could have had a vaginal delivery, but Danielle’s mom is right, in the end you have the most wonderful prize and it IS worth it no matter how they got here.

I’ll never forget when I was about 7 months along with my first daughter (who will be 9 in November!) thinking to myself..OH MY GOSH this baby has to come out of THAT??? I was petrified. Turns out I had an emergency C-section early (she was breech and 6 weeks early). My second daughter was an elective c section b/c my dr. was against VBACS. My son, born 5 years after my second daughter, was the biggest one of all (8 lbs, the girls were 5 pounders) was a vaginal delivery. There are good and bad to both, but if I ever do it again, I hope for a vaginal delivery. Yes it hurts and yes it is scary but…the recovery is so much easier than a c section. Besides, a c section is a MAJOR surgery, open gut and all. Best to avoid surgery if you can.

Personally, I would never opt for a elective c-section. If there is an emergency, then of course, but I don’t want to mess with nature in that regard. Plus I don’t like scars. :D

I just hope Britney realizes (and I’m sure she does) that the birth part may be easy, but the recovery will be more difficult and with more restrictions on exercise, etc. Plus there is tbe increased chance of developing ileus, like Michelle Branch did after her emergency c-section, and be in the hospital another week!

If her c-section isn’t elective and she is just trying to keep her scheduled date a secret, then OK, God bless. I really hope that was the intent behind her comment and that it helps her to not get mobbed by the photogs.

Hopefully she isn’t going to part of the Hollywood trend of elective early C-sections (with a mini-tummy tuck thrown in) or she isn’t under the impression that saving her nether regions from a standard birth will keep her sexier. Hopefully Madonna can talk to her about all the yoga and kegels she can do to combat this worry!

I was under the impression that most doctors do not like to perform c-sections unless their is an absolute cause for doing so.
Personally I would not opt for one. The older I get the more I want to experience the whole birth thing. I even said to my mom yesterday as were watching a baby story with a women doing a water birth – how cool that would be. My mom just looked at me puzzled and was like yeah uh huh go for it! But then the women started screaming louder and louder and I turned to her and went, “perhaps an epidural would be better instead!”
I wouldn’t consider a c-section the easy way out but surely when it’s scheduled you are basically in no labor what so ever and out in a few days. The scenario seems nice but why mess with surgery if it’s not necessary :)

I can totally relate to how Britney feels. Having had two c-sections, there is certainly plenty of pain afterwards, but I would still prefer to have one over a vaginal delivery. If I ever have another child I will have another c-section.

so many stars schedule c-sections…..There is pain both ways, but yes a c-section is prob more. I have had 2 c-sections. I don’t think for a first child you should be sceduling a c-section unless deemed medically necessary…..

- jokm on

Yeah, I can post. I can’t think of why someone would pick a c/s. My mom had 2 for but I had my son naturally. She couldn’t believe how fast I recovered, or that I was walking right after I had him. She said she was a mess and in tons of pain. I felt great, just a bit of a sore bottom.
I think underlying reason behind the scheduled c/s rate in stars is vanity. If they are willing to go under the knife to look better, maybe it doesn’t bother them as much to have a baby the same way.

- ohmymuffin on

I think Britney should try to have it naturally. But putting yourself in not necessary danger during a big surgery like that. Me, personally would try to have it naturally, and if not able to stand the pain get an epidural. But would not want a c-section unless and emergency one.

Ugh. I’m just going to bite my tongue.
