08/15/2005 at 04:39 PM ET

Sixers star Allen Iverson and wife Tawanna welcomed their fourth child this morning. Daughter Messiah Lauren was born at 11:47 am and weighed 6 lbs, 12 ounces. A statement released by the family says that "Mom, Dad, sister Tiaura, and brothers Allen II and Isaiah Rahsaan, along with baby Messiah, are all doing well."

Good for them – but I have to admit I’m not crazy about the new baby’s name.

Messiah?? Interesting..

I’m guessing that they’re pretty spiritual, judging from this name, and Isaiah.

Eli's Mom on

nope….don’t care for the name!!

Well Messiah is different but I’ve heard worse……..Apple, Banjo, Pilot, Moxie…..so consider this child lucky.

Well as far as the name is concerned – at least it’s a girl. If it was a boy – that would be a whole other question.

Unfortunately – the nicknames from Messiah are not good – ie: Messy….

I’m sorry, but I hate the name. Calling a baby “Messiah” to me is akin to naming her “Jesus.” Now I know the latter is sometimes used by those of hispanic descent, and I have no problem with that. But it just seems kind of mean to give your child a name that you know many will have a problem with, for many different reasons.

Even Apple is better.

Who cares what her name is? That kid will be so rich she can just pay other kids to not make fun of her name.

actually the nickname for messiah is Siah (sigh uh) and I think its pretty, but I really like the name Shia (shy uh) too so that’s why. LOL about her being so rich she can pay kids not to make fun of her! Its so true!
