Prince Edward and Sophie said to be expecting a second child

08/11/2005 at 11:20 AM ET

Royal_crownBritain’s Daily Mirror is reporting that England’s Prince Edward and his wife Sophie Wessex are expecting a second child and that Sophie is three months pregnant. However, Buckingham Palace said, "We can neither confirm nor deny that the Countess is pregnant.” Photos of Sophie on vacation two weeks ago had sparked speculation after her swimsuit revealed a slight bump.

Lady Louise, the couple’s first child, was born four weeks prematurely in November 2003 by emergency C-section. Prior to that, in December 2001, Sophie was rushed to hospital by helicopter when she suffered an ectopic pregnancy.

I have a question, does anyone know why there daughter is Lady Louise not Princess Louise?

Mae on

From a net search:

“The Lady Louise is the first grandchild of the sovereign in the male line not to carry the title of a British princess or the style Her Royal Highness.
This was in deference to the Earl and Countess’ wishes that their children not carry royal titles and styles.
Although the first born male of the couple could use the Earl’s courtesy title of Viscount Severn, subsequent males and females would be styled Lord or Lady Windsor.”

Wow – they really keep a low profile – I had completely forgotten they already had a child. Good for them!
