Newsanchor Ashleigh Banfield expecting

Newsanchor Ashleigh Banfield is pregnant with her first child. Dad is hubby Howard Gould. Ashleigh is due in the fall, but here she is pictured on June 27th.

She looks cute! but isnt she much more of a risk, having a child at 40? But im happy for her!

There are increased risks, yes, such as having a child with Down’s Syndrome, but once you are 35+ (“advanced maternal age”)they recommend many tests for you, such as amniocentesis, to make sure everything is fine. I’m sure she and her doctor are making sure that she is well cared for.

There’s nothing wrong with having a child around 40, as long as you are prepared to deal with what may happen-as any pregnant mother has to be!

The shirt is hideous!
There are risk for her and her child but I am happy for them. My grandmother had my dad at 50 in 1952! Now that’s something!

Both the shirt and the glasses are horrible. You can get better maternity clothes than that at the GAP.

My mom had me at 41 with no complications in 1970. Sure the risk ratio goes up, but for the most part, if you break down the percentages…most babies turn out wonderfully if I don’t say so myself!

Im happy for her im not making fun of her. I had my first child at 16.

My aunt had her 3rd child at 42 and everything was ok with the baby. Also, my cousins have an aunt on the other side of there family that has 8 sons and she had 3 of them in her 40′s-her last when she was 47. They are all healthy too.
