Norwegian Princess Leah's name inspired by Star Wars

Norway’s Princess Martha Louise told Norwegian daily Aftenposten that she was inspired to name her new daughter Leah Isadora, who was born on April 8 this year,  after Star Wars’ Princess Leia because, "I must admit that I have always been a big ‘Star Wars’ fan, and Princess Leia has always been the most beautiful in the whole world. "  She didn’t explain the different spelling.

Princess Leah is fifth in line to the Norwegian throne, and was recently baptized.

Hah, I love it! A real Princess Leia [even if it's a different spelling] =)

Yeah, but Leah is usually pronounced “lee-uh” and Leia “lay-uh”, so they aren’t really the same

also, wasn’t this already posted? jw

I agree Erin, they’re completely different names! It REALLY bugs me when people say Princess Leah when talking about Princess Leia because to my ears theyre really different. I dislike Leah as a name greatly but Leia to me is really beautiful.

You have to remember that the Norwegian pronunciation is very different. Actually, in Norway Leah IS pronounced ‘Lay-uh’, not ‘Lee-uh’.

I think Martha Louise just said that as a joke.

Leah Isadora isn’t a princess though. She’s just Leah Isadora Behn.

Completely inappropriate. Deleted.
