Blythe Danner happy about unexpected Apple

05/15/2005 at 08:48 PM ET

Paltrow In discussing her movie Meet The Fockers, in which her on screen daughter Pam gets pregnant unexpectedly, Blythe Danner drew comparisons between the character and her daughter Gwyneth Paltrow‘s surprise pregnancy with Apple.

"My daughter was very open about the fact that she was in the same circumstance (as Pam). I was so thrilled because I think otherwise [she and Chris] were planning to wait a lot longer to have children. I couldn’t have been happier when I found out she was pregnant. I was over-the-moon. It was such a personal and incredibly enjoyable moment."

Blythe also says she loves being a grandma: "I see [Apple] much more than I thought I would. It’s just wonderful. I’ve seen her at almost every stage since she has been born."

It’s really cute because my style icon Is Gwyneth and my mom’s is Blythe. Maybe someday my daughter will try to dress like Apple!

Erin Walker on

Mom Said It

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
